The only other switched Fox affiliate I know of that carried the Fox Kids line following the 1994-96 switch was WALA/channel 10 in Mobile AL. All the other new Fox affiliates deferred to another station in their markets.

KTVI was airing Fox Kids at 1pm? Of course the kids were well into summer vacation at that point, but was KTVI doing that DURING the school year as well? Seemed like a stupid move if so.
Guessing KPLR went into infomercials at 1AM, or were they signing off? Strange that LAPD aired on a Christian station in St. Louis.

The paper didn't list infomercials, so I don't know if that station signed off during the night. Actually, I put "paid programming" where a spot was missing.
I checked some KTVI listings from November 1998 and the station had removed the Fox Kids cartoons from its schedule.

Wikipedia says KNLC has often aired secular syndicated series, more recent examples of which include Celebrity Page, Judge Hatchett, Forensic Files and Leverage.

This is true; the Post-Dispatch weekly TV book at the time did not list infomercials. However, glancing at the TV grid from the 7/13/98 paper itself, I can confirm what KPLR did show that overnight:
2:00 Paid programming
2:30 Paid programming
3:00 Paid programming
3:30 Nightman
4:30 WKRP in Cincinnati

KDNL cancelled Port Charles in February of 1998, citing low ratings, and replaced it initially with Doogie Howser reruns at 11:30 am. The Post-Dispatch listed Port Charles as having a 1.5 rating (about 16,500 St. Louis households) and a 4 share. Not great, but apparently over four times the ratings KDNL had received with the previous 11:30 soap, The City.

BTW, why no Port Charles on KDNL?

Thanks for pointing that out. I didn't notice it was missing at 11:30am. I wouldn't think they would have been bothered by low ratings (since the station overall is low rated) and carried all ABC shows considering that is all they are to the St. Louis market is a source for ABC programs.

Not only is/was KDNL a weak ABC affiliate, all the ABC affiliates in markets surrounding St. Louis are/were historically weak or nonexistent
