Down: WRCH (by a lot)

I am told by people that listen to them, that there are not much "lite favorites" anymore and its getting way to much "pop" music.

Guess there is an audience of 40 - 60 years olds who don't like that.

I can only wonder if that is why they are down so much.

We'll never know without seeing the breakdown by age group -- the numbers that really matter. For all we know, the lost listeners may have all been 55+, in which case WRCH will be pleased. Also, they're still No. 1 overall and 0.7 is just barely more than a wobble, not "a lot."

Just a thought: Does WRCH lose a few points in the summer books every year as their listen-at-work core audience starts to take their vacation weeks?

My Mom is in her upper 60s. She listens to Lite 100.5 regularly, but now they play a lot of stuff she doesn't like. She likes when they do a 70s or 80s weekend on certain holidays and doesn't understand why they can't play those 70s tracks regularly.

Lots of songs are now tune-outs for her. "All of Me" by John Legend, "Poker Face" along with "Bad Romance" by Lady GaGa, "Cake By the Ocean." The new remix of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", "Angel" by Shaggy, " and a lot of other "newer" songs - some are border line hip-hop tracks.

WRCH does sound more like WHCN during the daytime hours. Of course it's sleepy time, candles, and bubble baths at night still.

I have to wonder if 1080 having it's mid-day Trump love fest is hurting the ratings?

I don't think the people at WPOP even listen to WPOP anymore. For months I've been hearing two overlapping audio feeds on-the-hour, on-the-quarter-hours, and on the half-hour. They last anywhere from 30 to 60 seconds. I called the station in Hartford to inform them of the problem but I was left on hold for about 3 minutes so I gave up.

People on the Boston board say the same thing about WPOP's sister stations in Boston Talk 1200 and WRKO, though 1200 is the bigger offender.
