QVC Plus relaunches as QVC2

QVC has relaunched it's mainly "best of" shopping network QVC Plus as QVC2. QVC2 provides an additional 40 hours/week of live on-air shopping. QVC2 is live Monday-Friday 6PM-Midnite and 10AM-3PM on Saturdays and Sundays. The rest of the time QVC2 will remain "best of" programming.

Two regular scheduled shows are:

Saturdays:
10AM-Noon AM Style with Gabrielle Kerr
Noon-3PM In the Kitchen with Mary (Launched in February. A spin-off of In the Kitchen with David)

Actually, about 15 years ago or more, there was a Q2, which was QVC's younger counterpart. A friend of mine was one of the presenters. It was broadcast from the Silvercup Studios in Long Island City, Queens. (My friend lived in Kew Gardens. They'd send a car for him for each of his broadcasts.)

It was mostly electronics & technology, exercise, and other youthful products. I believe it was live from early morning to evening, with repeats overnight, no sharing with the regular QVC. But he left for his own enterprise several years in and a couple of years later, it became QVC Plus, rebroadcasting hours from the regular QVC, closing the Silvercup operation and laying off most of the staff.

I guess most cable systems carry numerous shopping channels these days. Spectrum in my community has 2 QVCs and 2 HSNs, plus Evine (formerly Shop NBC) and several others centered on jewelry. But I thought when NBC got out of the shopping channel business, it was a signal these stations had outlived their popularity. If young people want something delivered, they don't have to wait for a TV show to get around to what it is. Who'd guess QVC would offer shows on its second channel competing with its first channel at this point?

I think NBC had to sell ShopNBC as part of their merger with Comcast.

It seems like DirecTV has every shopping network known to man except for HSN2. QVC is on 3 different channels on the line up - 70, 275, and 317. QVC2 is on 76, 79, and 315. Beauty IQ (Another QVC Service) is on 318. EVINE is on 73 and 316. All the others are duplicated as well except for HSN.

As for the old Q2 network that was a descendant of The Fashion Channel. QVC had a channel that sold Fashions only. The Fashion Channel then became OnQ on the weekend. Eventually OnQ became Q2.

QVC2 has added an additional 20 hours of live programming. Typically they are now live:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 6PM-Midnight Eastern.
Wednesday: Noon-Midnight Eastern
Saturdays/Sundays: 9AM-3PM Eastern and 6PM-Midnight Eastern.

The Rest of the time QVC2 remains "Best of programming."

Last year during the Holiday Season they had expanded live hours on Mondays. This week I know there's expanded live hours on Tuesday.

DIRECTV doesn't carry QVC2 in HD. They just added HSN in HD. And if EVINE has an HD feed DIRECTV doesn't carry it either. Also on DirecTV The West Coast Feeds on Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network aren't in HD either. I don't know about Disney's West Coast Feed. I don't watch Disney. Sometimes I like watching the West Coast Feed. Gives me something to watch if there's nothing on.
