Mary Ann from Gilligan fame needs money

One of the last two living cast members of Gilligan's Island, Dawn Wells, who played Mary Ann, has apparently fallen on hard times.

At last check, Dawn was living near Victor, Idaho not far from Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

I'm not particularly pro- or anti- Maryanne or Ms. Wells, but it was not unusual for TV stars of this era (mid 1960's and prior) to fall upon hard times, when the roles dried up. This was before AFTRA negotiated residuals for the second tier stars of most TV shows. So a co-star like Wells likely received a modest salary for Gilligan's Island, during first run, then gained not a single dollar from the long rerun syndication of the show.

Another TV actor who died sick and in poverty was Dick York - the first Darren, on Bewitched.
