Or, you know, what the owners want to do that makes business sense for them, regardless of so-called history of one person who happens to be tasked with executing the strategy.
WRDR, WIFI, and WWDB weren't Urban. Nor was WURD during the time he ran it.

@ Jack : As a DXer from western Long Island (near JFK Airport), I remember hearing WRCP quite often at sunset. IIrc, the official sunset 'times' between Long Island and Eastern PA were separated by 15 minutes.
Perhaps through those same propogational means, I'd hear your alma mater WBUX 1570 very often.
Best memories of 1540 Philly were when they were Philly Gold Radio -- WPGR. That would've been in the late 80's. Imagine a radio station playing :45 minutes straight of the Intruders. I doubt many internet-only stations are capable or willing to do that. But WPGR did, one afternoon.

The DMCA prohibits that sort of thing unless the label is paying to play, right?
They were great in the 60's for REAL country music going back to the early 50's. W Real Country Power from the Rittenhouse Square Ranch, I remember a jock named Nick Reynolds. They did simulcast on 104.5 in mono so they were playing country music 24/7 although they hardly mentioned the FM back then. I wonder how far the FM traveled at 26kw @ 195 feet...in 1968.
Harvey Holiday had one of the most entertaining shows on radio when he did AM drive on 'PGR. He started his "you say it, I gotta play it" request line there before he moved on to WIOQ, and then WOGL. I miss his Street Corner Sunday on WOGL, the last of the oldies shows.
What's everyone thinks what station going to be?
On July 18th, WNWR was granted a Special Temporary Authority to remain silent. The application says "WNWR IS BEING TAKEN SILENT FOLLOWING ITS ACQUISITION BY AZTEC CAPITAL PARTNERS, INC. IN ORDER TO EXPLORE POTENTIAL MODIFICATIONS TO THE TRANSMITTER SITE."
The STA says WNWR has been off the air since June 14th, 2018, and the STA to remain silent is valid until January 14th, 2019.
Not quite.. you're allowed up to 1 year of silence with permission.. this is just their first 6 months. They can request an additional 6 months without coming back on.. but if they remain silent, get an additional 6months, they MUST come back after 12 months

They were on today with a Spanish format, low power, tonight I am too far (Shamong), to know if they are still on the air.
I can't think of anything with less potential than an AM in Spanish in this era.
Unless it's Spanish religious, in which case everything is paid for on the programming side.
Note to original poster: Don't speak any Spanish and can't tell if that Spanish station you're hearing is religious or secular? Easy, just listen for the name "Jesucristo" (HAY-soo-CREE-stoh). It only comes up around 100 times an hour.
