New oldies station in Shelby County

Probably in reaction to the demise of the Peach, 93-3 the River is now broadcasting from Pelham. That said, the low-power signal doesn't even cover all of Pelham. I discovered it last week once I crossed South Shades Crest Road heading towards Helena. The playlist is, if anything, eclectic, with a lot of 60s and 70s titles, along with a fair amount of early to mid 80s cuts. It's almost like I put my iPod on shuffle. Imaging is minimal.

Interesting, I had it listed as a Christian religious station before. Not often that one goes from God to music. Usually it's the other way around. ;)

The person behind WPLX-LP is Jeff Speegle, a weekend sports Anchor at ABC33/40 and the address on the application for the licensee North Shelby Community Radio is his house.

I'll have to check them out as I work in Shelby County. The signal is very small, not even covering all of Pelham. For the year or so that they've been on the air until the sudden format change, I heard them with instrumental music, but I didn't really recognize it as hymns.
93.3 was the frequency used for the synchronized Christmas music when they had the drive-through Christmas light show at the Oak Mountain Amphitheater parking lot in Pelham. On occasion, the transmitter was left on all the way until February.
