Roseanne reruns back on TV

Reruns of Roseanne have returned to TV. As of Monday 10/1 CMT is once again airing reruns of Roseanne Weekdays 9AM-Noon, replacing Full House. CMT is currently airing the seasons in reverse order. Meaning they started with Season 9 on Monday. And will be airing Season 8 episodes in a few days when they burn through all the episodes of Season 9. CMT did the same thing when they began airing reruns of Home Improvement a couple of months ago. They aired the final season first then went into the previous season and the previous season before that. They just recently switched to running the seasons in the correct order.

I wasn't aware that the reruns disappeared in any wholesale fashion the way they did with 'The Cosby Show'. Considering the show has been off the air for more than 20 years, landing on CMT is good for it. It'll put some more dollars in Roseanne Barr's purse.

As predicted here.

With an exploding number of diginets and streaming services, the demand for content
is simply too great to leave a popular series on the shelf for very long.

Prior to Ms. Barr's offensive tweet the reruns were on four cable networks - all owned by Viacom. TVLAND, CMT, Logo, and The Paramount Network. Several years back WE aired the reruns, but not in several years. The show was also on the digi-net LAFF which also dropped the show. I don't know if the reruns were still running on local OTA stations. At least in Hartford/New Haven it has been several years since it was on OTA.

As for The Cosby Show the reruns were airing on Viacom networks TVLAND and Centric (which is now BET HER) when they pulled the show after the accusations came out. I don't know if any other cable networks aired the show recently. OTA the reruns were airing in Hartford/New Haven on WCTX/59 when the accusations came out. I believe digi-net Bonce TV aired the show briefly and then pulled the show when he was found guilty earlier this year. I believe some network (I don't recall which one) was airing his old show I Spy and they pulled that too.

Roseanne no longer runs OTA, and the same with The Cosby Show. I remember seeing Roseanne OTA as late as 2009, 2010? In fact they were uplinked to stations all the way to 2014.

Its well known that a network show doesn't start making money till it goes into syndication.

The Cosby Show still airs on TVONE.
