No more "KYW News Time"?

Might they be ditching the time stamps because, like Bloomberg Radio, many elements are going to be tracked in advance and dropped into the schedule multiple times? Getting away from the timestamps will enable the tracked content to blend seamlessly with the live. They've been doing this overnights for awhile now. There are synergies to be leveraged here!

I thought if they'd drop anything it would have been mentions of "1060" so they can finally move toward putting the station on the FM band.

They've passed on several opportunities to move to FM - 106.9, 96.5... Sounds like they're concentrating on the app for new audience and keeping the heritage audience on AM. If the FCC lifts or stretches the ownership caps, I could see KYW migrating to an FM, but with Entercom's FMs making good money now, they apparently see no need to instantly render 1060 obsolete. One wonders why they didn't at least acquire an FM translator for 1060. Some of these LPFMs are bound to close up shop over the next 5 to 10 years, so it's probably still possible. The silent W236AF (95.1 Burlington) is still hanging out there, isn't it?

What good would such a tiny FM signal do though? Philly is a large city in itself (not including the suburbs.) If it was a small market like Ithaca, NY, where a 250 watt translator can cover the city proper (which is the majority of the market), it would make a little more sense. But in Philly, you'd need to make it a full-market signal to make it worth the trip to FM.

I do appreciate them putting KYW on 94.1-HD2, as it is nice to hear it crystal clear. According to the ratings, I'm one of about 10 people that tunes in there though. lol

And it is important to remember that Nielsen does not rate "cities" but markets. The Philadelphia market is 8 counties.

Ithaca is not a Nielsen rated market, so it is hard to make a comparison.

True. I was thinking back to when they were, but it was only a one county market (Tompkins). So if the translator signal covered the city of Ithaca... it was hitting a pretty big chunk of the "Market" population. (And hence why Saga has about 373,466,225 translators all with different formats fed by HD's there. lol

I don't think its too late for KYW to be on 96.5 FM. 96.5 FM is bound to change again with their bad ratings.

All you care about is 1210 and 96.5 huh?

must'nt feed the troll......let sleeping dogs lie.....ignore is the cure.

To add to the changes, Steve Nikazy is no longer introduced at Reporters Roundup during the opener, and he no longer "thanks" or interacts with the other reporters in the studio. This really loses the individuality and concept of the program; it's not much different than the regular news segments now since Matt Leon in sports tosses it back to the studio just as he does in Roundup.
