Surprising Billboard on Route 9 in New Britain

That's the former WCCC-AM. When EMF bought WCCC-FM to put K-Love on it, the organization spun off the AM station to a more traditional Christian radio owner. University of Northwestern – St. Paul bought it, and got a translator for it.

But I wonder if 94.1 comes in, in New Britain? That's about 15 miles from Hartford, where the translator is located. And the AM is only 490 watts by day, 11 watts at night.

For more traditional religious broadcasting, there's WIHS 104.9 and WSDK 1550. Both have much better signals.

Years ago I remember WCCC-FM ("Connecticut's Triple C") as a Top 40 station......"Friendly" Floyd Wright was on at the time I tuned in (probably early 80s.....!!)...

I work in New Britain, 94.1 comes in fine there.

You can still hear Floyd on WJMJ (88.9), playing oldies, standards and softer more recent hits.

This I know. The whole thing about it being a surprising billboard to see had nothing to do with the location of the billboard. The surprising thing is I don't think I have ever seen a religious station advertising on a billboard before, Unless I'm not in the right areas. I'm almost certain I've never seen billboards for the likes of WIHS 104.9, WSDK 1550 (and 95.3), or north of the state line in Mass WACE 730. The closest I've seen are lawn signs I've seen from time to time for WJYC-LP 105.3 out of Terryville's Riverside Baptist Church.
