They preempted that for this?

WTNH in New Haven, CT pre-empted Judge Judy today for a stupid debate between the three candidates running for governor. Sorry, but Judge Judy is more important.

An informed electorate is crucial, especially when a democracy is at stake. I'd rather have the option to watch a "stupid debate" than be deprived of it. Incidentally, at 7:00 this evening, WCBS-TV will broadcast the New York gubernatorial debate, preëmpting its usual educative programming—videlicet, Inside Edition and Entertainment Tonight.

I believe Fox preempted the Simpsons for the New Orleans @ Baltimore game. But since the Simpsons was a rerun, it wasn't a big deal.

no they didn't pre-empt anything. Reruns of Simpsons and Bobs Burgers were shown in the 6-7 CDT hour. Simpsons would have been JIP'd but from my recollection the game got done right around the top of the hour

You sound like the same type of person who would get annoyed about weather emergencies on TV, especially if it's not in your immediate area.
go on facebook during one of those times. Those people get all pissy

Even if it's something you personally couldn't care less about, it's still far more than some old hag's courtroom show that could seen any other time (and I don't mind Judge Judy). You sound entitled.

first world problems I guess ;)

I wasn't really serious about Judge Judy being important, but I watched 10 mins of one of the debates and it was just as stupid as the commercials the candidates are running. Instead of talking about what they're going to do as governor they're saying why someone shouldn't vote for the opposing candidate. And don't get me started on the commercials. The commercials will be bring up something the opposing candidate did 20 years ago (or more). How many people can honestly say they're exactly the same person they were 20 years ago. Personally 20 years ago I was a high school student. I had different opinions and views of certain subject that I did back then.

How did that happen? That never happens.

Besides, it was the week for CBS to have the late game. Is it not true that game can't air in New Orleans and if so, what happens at 6?

In TN the attack ads have been mostly in the senate election to replace Corker, which has turned into another one where I wish there was a choice of None of the Above. The governor's election hasn't been so bad.

In the garden spot of the East Coast, the ads between Bobs Menendez and Hugin have become downright ugly.

If CBS had the late game, then why did Chicago, Indianapolis, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Boston, Washington D.C., all of Louisiana, Baltimore, Knoxville and Jacksonville get the Saints-Ravens game on Fox?

What do you mean? While CBS had the DH FOX has both an early and late game. The late game is for the following markets
-the two teams playing (Nawlins & Baltimore)
-any team that had a home game on CBS early (no game can be shown opposite the home team)...this was Chicago, Indy and Jacksonville

Then there are markets where even though they could show an early game, decides to not go up against the "local team". In this case was Boston (NE), Houston, & Buffalo. They were the road teams but the FOX affiliate decided not to go up against the local team.
Then there was DC that got a waiver to show it (technically they wouldnt be able to as Washington was at home...but the NFL caved)

The oddball spots were Arizona, Portland, OR and San Diego

The game got done real close to 6PM CDT (give or take a minute or two) so they probably just JIP'd the FOX rerun there. Again it was reruns from 6-7 CDT so nothing was "pre-empted"

I have early voted, so I don't even "hear" those ads anymore. Only one congressional candidate running ads here so far, despite two open seats. (The primary was another story.)

This post needs to go on the football rules thread because I didn't know about all that.

But if someone doesn't know, these details should be on the correct thread so that person will see them.

you seem to be the only one confused that there are both early and late games on CBS & FOX and didn't understand that folks do get a late game on the singleheader network. There are lots of weeks that Minneapolis gets the "3pm crapfest" game due to Vikes being on at noon.
Like this week the late CBS game is Indy & Oakland. Markets that get it are Indy & Oakland (the 2 teams playing), Detroit and Cincy (due to being home team on FOX early), Seattle and Tampa (using the "unwritten rule" of even though team is on the road not to show game opposite it) and then the usual regional markets (Northern Cali, Southern Indiana/Northern Kentucky)

With this World Series game 3 in the bottom of the 15th, I'm sure East and Central time Fox stations just let the news teams go home for the night...I doubt they want to report the news at 3 or 4AM ET, or whenever somebody wins this darn game. Preemptions all over the place, syndicated programming/reruns of course.

Now going into the EIGHTEENTH...3:16AM ET BTW. Again, did I say 3:16AM? How long before Joe Buck falls asleep and we start hearing loud snoring on the Fox feed? ;-)

I can't take my eyes off of it...this is a historic game...longest in World Series history. Of course, both "crainbebo" and myself are in the Pacific zone. And tomorrow is Saturday! Wonder how many Boston viewers are still awake...my bet is quite a few. Wow. Back in the day, some cities had curfews for games, but I doubt they exist in LA, let alone for a World Series game.

And yes, Joe Buck is sounding a bit tired and giddy, but hanging in there!
