WGHT & 12/16/18

Pompton Lakes' WGHT 15~Hundred has until 12/16 to resume broadcasting, or face cancellation of their license. Knowing the Borough paid nothing for the station (it was the land that they really wanted), what incentive do they have for firing up the kilowatt transmitter? They were able to obtain a very low powered translator for the station, but is that enough to cause anyone to buy the station? We'll soon find out as the countdown clock is in motion.

What I had read was the borough was looking for a partner to run the station, and I thought WALL-AM in Middletown NY had stepped up to do that.

I wonder if they are going to build out the translator that was approved for WGHT or just keep it at bay until they figure out which end is up. Perhaps the arrangement with WALL could work as the signals do complement each other, during the day at least... WALL has a bunch of translators so they must have a means to generate revenue somehow, some way... the translator would at least keep them on the air 24/7 if there is a listener-base.
