Mancow Mornings on WLS

Geez... There's just something kind of sad about this from both sides. Wasn't this guy big like 20 years ago doing the Howard Stern Shock Jock type thing? That won't really work now, will it?

The article deals with that. Stern called him "Girl Cow." But he's gone through an evolution between then and now. This is his second time on WLS, but a return to mornings. He's conservative politically, so that will be his focus rather than the old shock jock thing.

Oof... Good luck with that, Radio Management.

In the article it mentions that Mancow will work for Marv Nyren the Cumulus Chicago Market Manager for the third time. I remember in 2017 I saw the headlines saying "Mancow Sues Cumulus GM Marv Nyren for Harassment" At the time I had no clue if this was real or a prank given that this lawsuit was happening at the same time that on the national level that the various harassment lawsuits and investigations were happening at the same time but mainly with female victims who work in broadcasting at the time until all the Chicago News outlets confirmed that.

I would have preferred Michael DelGiorno, Bob DelGiorno, Sr.'s son, for mornings, and syndicated from Nashville on WWTN. Also, WWCK (AM) Flint, and other cities like Fort Wayne, New Orleans and Syracuse where the older demographic also remembers Bob, Sr. as well as from WIND and WKQX. He talks about his family, and growing up in Arlington Heights, on WWTN. Bob DelGiorno, Jr. also worked at WBBM-FM. If you haven't heard Michael, "Alexa, play WWTN Nashville", 9-12 Noon M-F. People still talk about Bob Dell a LOT on Facebook pages.

Better than Mancow, IMHO. DelGiorno is conservative, but very mainstream, and talks about less political stories as well. I concentrate on quality. They shut Mancow down when he talked about controversial topics and third rail theories anyway. Without those, he's mainly silly.

Then listen to WBEZ or WBBM.

You know what I have to say when they put on "safe for Major Market Cumulus stations" local hosts?

"Alexa, play WWTN" or "Alexa, play KSFO". Still Cumulus stations. But the local stations are losing audience.

I don't like to be manipulated, whether I agree with a host or not.

If Cumulus stations keep on a "safe" path, people will show up listening to streams. And an honest programming department will notice where they are going.

Being from Arizona, I'm not familiar with him, but I've heard of him.
I tried listening a few times online.

He is entertaining, but very, very difficult.
First, the audio levels constantly go up & down. It's almost like he keeps turning away from the mic when he talks.

Plus, on WLS, you have to sit through 15 minutes of commercials and promos, and he talks for about 5-6 minutes and it's back to 15 more minutes of commercials, traffic, etc.
I'll bet the guy is only on 1 hour of actual airtime total. The rest is all commercials. (I counted 13 in a row, followed by a couple of promos, then 6 more commercials before he came back on)

Just not worth it.
