Santa's Coming For Us by Sia on WBEB HD2

I have noticed that "Santa's Coming For Us" is in regular rotation on the Christmas stream. Did B101.1 actually play this on the air during the season? (It usually takes me years to warm up to "new" Christmas songs but this is actually a really good one.)

Also...I just read that Entercom's Boston AC Mix 106.7 plays Christmas music on their HD2 all year long. IMHO, I'd rather B101.1 do that as opposed to that useless '80s format! I wonder if anyone ever even listens to their HD2. (Why not just tune to 98.1?)

My only guess for that final question would be “commercial free.”!

I haven’t used Radio.com enough to know if the sub channels are available. With the old More app, IIRC, they only made the HD2 programming available to stream at holiday time—the “regular” content during all Christmas and then Christmas on HD2 until around New Years.

I don't know if all of the HD sub-channels are available but I've definitely found some on there. In fact, they're the only stations on Radio.com that I'll listen to because the ad inserts on the regular stations are unbearable after about 45 minutes of listening.

Before WBEB was on Radio.com, I think there was a time when the website didn't offer a link to the HD2 (all '80s) channel. But I had saved it as a favorite once during Christmastime so I was always able to stream it regardless. I almost never did, of course, but any time I checked the link, it still worked.

You can't sell commercials on HD2s and HD3s when virtually nobody's listening to them.

The only time I've heard commercials on HD sub-channels is when they're simulcasting a co-owned AM station.

Ah, smart. I typically use the apps, but probably should have tried that approach. Oh well. I have XM streaming as well, and their 80s on 8 when I want my all 80s fix.

Honestly though, apart from a little early and late listening to the all Christmas stream, there’s pretty much no sub channel that does anything for me. So it goes. And even for Christmas, Amazon’s holiday favorites was pretty darned solid. I’m just a nerd who enjoys the station jingles (conceptually, if not each and every one).

On the Sia question, I don’t know if I heard it on air, honestly. Somewhere it permeated my brain, but I’m not sure where.

Or when an HD2 is feeding a translator
