Oldies acts still touring

I guess I'm the only person who ever heard of his solo hit "So Wrong". It was played on a station I happened to be listening to.

I never heard it. It peaked at #30 in the Billboard chart. Maybe regional. Certainly not the kind of song on can build a 35 year touring career on, compared to the solo hits by Michael McDonald. Which may be why he quickly rejoined the Doobie Brothers. He is the member who has been with the band the longest. The only time he was away from the band was the 5 years (1982-87) when the band itself had broken up.

I only mentioned it because if anyone was familiar with it, my comment would have made sense.

It is my understanding that as long as at least one original member is still with the group, they can still use the group name.

That is correct, that is the law - but yet phony versions of the real acts STILL exist in MANY states - one, because laws may not have been passed in those states; and two - a LOT of fans of the "oldies" don't care WHO's in the group - they just want to hear the songs, period!! ("Shangri-Lies", for example -- if you have to ask who the "Shangri-Lies" are.....)

On "The Conners", Dan and a friend were going to see The Righteous Brother, One Dog Night, The Two Tops and Gladys Knight and the Pip.
Last night on the Motown 60 special they showed artists who had left us, and three of the four Tops were on that list. So maybe it is just One Top now.

Yes, Abdul Fakir has been the One Top for several years now. The last original Temptation, though, Obie Benson, has been dead for more than a decade. I think the young guys performing the Temptations music now tour as the "Temptations Revue."
