Talk 106.7 Airing Ben Shapiro at 10PM

WYAY/Talk 106.7 has been running Ben Shapiro, syndicated by Westwood One (Cumulus), from 10PM to midnight. The station had been carrying his show from 5-6AM.

As far as syndicated talk show hosts go, in my opinion Rush Limbaugh is the most talented, and there is a big talent drop-off from Rush to whoever the #2 host is. That said, I'm impressed with Shapiro. He's smart, informed and logical, and to some extent an independent thinker. WABC-AM in New York recently starting airing Shapiro in afternoon drive.

My opinions on talk show hosts by the way are based on talent and on-air effectiveness, and not on ideology.

FYI these are two different shows. The 5PM show was his podcast. The 10PM show is something new that he's doing exclusively for radio.

If you go back to Rush in the 80s and 90s, he spoke a lot quicker than he does now. There's a lot of dead air in his show now. That wasn't the case when he began. Shapiro is kind of a throwback to that kind of delivery. Boomers will probably have a problem with Shapiro because he's so young. But to me, he's just Rush reimagined. Hopefully that will reinvigorate talk radio, because it can't continue the way it's going now.

My radio gets Shapiro from 9PM to Midnight on WYAY. I've heard him on WLS before he started in Atlanta. The 5-6AM show should be cancelled. That's morning drive and should be live and local (like WSB). Morning drive starts around here about 4:30A.
Last I heard Hannity has just edged out Limbaugh for the top spot.

Limbaugh is time compressed by WSB so he talks a little faster than he really does.

Hannity makes a great deal of sense to be number one on a "Heavy Hundred" list, given his obvious relationship to the president. Even if Limbaugh has more listeners (and to my knowledge, he still does)
