KING News Director Out

The station is a wreck.

Not shocking.

This was reported by FTVLive a number of days ago. I am surprised no other outlets have picked it up like TVSpy, or any Seattle media. Perhaps FTVLive is not recognized as a true source, but frankly they usually get this stuff right. But, yeah, I have seen KING go downhill ever since they moved to SoDo. I am also surprised Tegna hasn't done more to get this ship righted, unless of course they have their sites on KIRO at the end of the day with Tegna a suitor for Cox. I would not be surprised with a big affiliate shakeup in Seattle in 2019.

A network shakeup? Not going to happen. Until OTA goes extinct (or humans), we'll still have ABC on 4, NBC on 5 and CBS on 7 in Seattle. I'm surprised they haven't taken Lori Matsukawa, or Rich Marriott, to pasture yet and replaced them with cheap sub-100 market talent. I don't even recognize many of the reporters...Glenn Farley and Chris Daniels are a couple of exceptions. Albeit I do recognize Natalie Swaby, too, from my time living north of Seattle pre-December 2013. But our family rarely watched KING's newscasts compared to the other stations.
I do NOT see Morgan Ashley (ex-NBC Right Now, KNDU) listed on the 'meet our team' section yet. Has she started her job at KING yet? Interesting to have her, and Jordan Wilkerson (ex-KEPR) at the same station. And Natalie Swaby also had experience at KEPR before KING.
BTW I watched New Year's at the Needle on their webstream, great fireworks show of course. Jordan Steele did a weather report about 10 minutes before the fireworks, and I finally got to see him doing the forecasts. Nah, I'd rather stick with Steve Pool. Jordan still needs to grow into the job a little bit more. He's no Jeff Renner, for sure.

No, I wasn't talking about network shakeup, but an affiliate shakeup among owners. I probably should have been more clear.

Understood. I know Cox is trying to sell their TV properties to other companies. I could see CBS snatching up KIRO as they already have CW-11.

On the heels of the internal sexual harassment scandals, not to mention discussions of merging CBS once again with Viacom, there is no way CBS Network is considering buying local stations, let alone in market 13.
