That is so untrue and mid leading. I was listening for four hours while I was in my workshop and the music was just as good as when Dean and Skip are on the only difference I heard was all the phone calls .My wife and I listened as some guy named Chris was giving away tickets and taking phone calls on the radio . My guess would be about 50 phone calls or more. People were saying how much they liked the music and the station. Maybe one or two of you on here don’t like the station so be it . But it is obvious that’s the minority every phone call praised KKDJ
You must have a hard on for this Verne guy!! Once or two don’t like it when phone caller after another was saying how much they liked the music.
I heard 93.3 on today thats Kens from his house illlegal pirate still sounds amature.

So yesterday I heard nothing but the stalest of the stale 'Classic Rock'; today is all obscure never heard before stuff. Go figger. Heard some kinda promo telling me I was listening to K/FUN in Hanford. And hearing repeats of same songs in about a 3 hour rotation.
I find it hard to believe that Gary Cacolo is involved in both this KKDJ train wreck and KJOI-LP. KJOI runs as smooth as silk.
I heard from Kenrayc that "I'm not Verne" got him banned from the board. Not sure if that can be verified, but if true, I would only say to Eduardo and Frank, I think you banned the wrong guy. I'm sure there must be a way to check a connection between"popcorn1", "engineer1", among others. I've heard their posts come from the same source.
Now I expect a threatening PM from 'good ol Verne' as I have gotten in the past. Last November. I should post it. And I know I'm not the only one who has gotten these threats of "legal action" from "engineer1".

About 6-8 weeks ago I called the station and voiced my opinion on a few things,later that evening,about 8:30 to be exact I received a call from a number I did not recognize so I let it go to VM,well when I listened it was good ole’ Verne calling me names,telling me not to tell him how to run his business and basically what my wife called was verbally assaulting me. If you don’t want people’s opinions,don’t ask for them on air to call 851-KKDJ and “let them know how they’re doing”.

I’m not a Rome guy,but I will say CBS is 110% better than ESPN. ESPN has been garbage,IMO for about the last 15 years.

I just talked with Skip on the phone two days ago I asked a music question he made it clear to me on the phone that he Skip and Dean have 100% responsibility for the music. He stated in no way does any Management people have anything to do with the music only Skip & Dean and I think its great

The music during the day is killer. I follow a number of stations that are similar, primarily KCSN, and the mix is better here. Ok, the Chris Montes triple play yesterday was brutal, but song after song, they've become the station for those who value music over all else. And, while no station should EVER become a slave to requests (doing so is suicide), just about everything I've ever suggested to either Dean or Skip has ended up on the air and not just once. So, blame me if you wish for some of the KCSN staples that are showing up in rotation.

I'm a fan of Joe Benson, but Uncle Joe doesn't fit now.. I tuned in the other night after midnight and it was the standard Classic Rock and I ended up flipping to KCSN and settled in for a couple hours of "almost KKDJ".

Just need to have 24/7 Dean/Skip tunes and nothing more. Well, let's make a couple of exceptions, we need to have: Dean doing rare Sinatra and other standards on a Sunday morning brunch show. And, Don needs to exit KFSR and bring a little of the Fresno Barn over as well - there's a ton that's a critical elment of Fresno's past that should be on the air and on this station only - that would be too cool. Finally, can we bring a couple hours of PXXker's best days of KAAT over as well on a Sunday night maybe?

Just saying to Gary and Verne, we're getting there. Guys, MAKE IT happen. If I need to buy a hairless guinea pig at Whities to show my support, I guess I'll start talking to the wife...

Really? Richard Blade is so non professional I listened once to him that was enough. In my eyes the only ones that sound professional on KKDJ are Skip he needs to be on more, I listen faithfully to Joe Benson at night he is fabulous. Don't get me wrong I love the music but these two are really top notch. I still listen to Dean in the morning but he likes to complain a lot and he is not that professional sounding.. no disrespect I just believe he is older and has lost it! Just my two cents worth, still love the station better than anything else here in the valley.

You seem to be quite knowledgeable I think you should call or email the owner and offer to help them. Don't know the two afore mentioned Gary and Verne but I have spoken to several people that do that have told me there very nice guys.

How does the new studio go?

It's easy to sit behind the screen and offer up advise. Like many, I grew up in this city at a time when we were very lucky to have some of the best radio in the country. It wasn't just KMAK vs KYNO, there was Gary Dee (Cleveland wasn't ready was it?), and far more. Radio gets in your blood and it's hard to let go. It's also painful to listen to what radio has become.

I'm lucky - I've programmed stations - introduced FM rock to a market that nearly ran us out of town, 'cause FM was only for "beautiful music". I worked with some great guys at KYNO and a few other stations with guys who were at time pretty much icons, like Dick Carr. But, that's long ago. A long, long time ago.

So, like many, I watch on the side and suggest up what I think best, knowing damn well the harsh realities of the economics of radio today prevent much if not all creativity. It sucks. But you can hope, right? While I don't always agree with your buddy White, I tend to think we have the same dream, that to memorize what was good and would hope it comes back. We're dreamers. He has toys. I've ideas.

I agree - Benson rocks. But, keep in mind, Joe Benson was essentially stripped of personality when 100.3 The Sound started to become more commercial and then came the last days at KLOS - it's all the distruction of what once was. There's a ton of talent out there but I'm not sure if there's an audience for that talent. Nick Michaels, the one time "voice" at WDRV was another who brought radio to life in ways that are nothing short of amazing.

Granted, Dean is not without his faults. I didn't even realize that he's as old as he is. He and I were on the air at the same time once, but I always thought of Dean as a "kid". Guess I was wrong. But, he has a love for radio and the music that we've grown up on, no matter what stage of life in the last 50 years or so. I appreciate the effort.

Enjoy what we have while we can as there's certainly little to suggest that radio will become viable again for anyone really appreciates good music that's outside of some Urban Billboard Chart, and that can appreciate talent that has intellegence as compared to those who're reading the same f'ing liner card with a dozen different call letters from some IHeart radio outpost.

Who is Verne? what does he have to do with Richard Blade, I have heard blade on Sirius XM just my opinion but he wasn't very knowledgeable about the artists and music. Now I will say the guy Skip on KKDJ is really good and very music savy. I have called him on their request line he is also a very personable fellow. What a great station kkdj has become now hopefully someone doesn't buy it and ruin a good music platform.

Still too much predictable classic rock junk. Not a fan of Benson. Still a poor signal. Even with great speakers and reception the fidelity is like AM on the FM band. Streaming is hit and miss with skips and jumps and not worth the cost of bandwidth. Can't compare to the kkdj of old with a staff of Dean. There goes the neighborhood most of the time when he leaves. Too inconsistent with the music 24/7 to be a go to station for me. Forget weekends and nights. The website looks like a kid built it. End rant.

OK 559 Thats not my name but I just wanted to say how happy I am with the great music on KKDJ . Dean is not my favorite that would be a toss up between several others on air there as he seems to be confused at time but what the heck we are are getting older. I love the music and the station my hats off to the owners for having the thought to put this great station back on. My advise to others that might criticize if you can do better go apply for on air shift . I talked to a friend of mine and they are hiring. Having grown up in the Valley a lot of great talent has come from Cocola broadcasting and I have been told that there are two people involved in Management according to a friend.

For about the fifth time this is not as you quote" Verne (you)" . I have met Mr White I have yet to meet Mr Cocola but from what I hear they are both very nice guys who have put a ton of money into this project, I have talked to Dean & Skip they both made me aware that they were in charge of Music not the owners. I suspect the reason they haven't hired anyone else yet they have not found the correct fit. I am an avid reader of All Access and I see them advertising on there for on air talent all the time. I don't think there is any shortage of moneys for the correct fit and talent. According to other PD's and owners none that I talked to would hire Dean but the fact that they gave him a chance should speak volumes. As far as your statement " looking over my or anyone else’s shoulder while we do our shift wondering if today is the day" That definitely is not these guys! Seems like more freedom here than any other Fresno station. Dean seems to be brilliant one day and way off other days, Skip on the other hand is not about himself but clearly about the music. Dean did tell me on the phone this morning a big announcement is about to happen he said keep listening he could not say some legal reason. I hope it's not new owners. Kudos to this great station getting better every time I listen the music just blows me away,you can tell there has been a lot of work on the music side. Just my 2 cents worth

What’s the purpose of the CBS affiliation? Doesn’t really compliment an Indy Rock format. But then, Chris is calling KKDJ Classic Rock on FB. Is what it is at the moment... Here’ hoping Monday brings out the best.
