They need to not just "blow up" the WGN schedule, they really need to re-image the whole station. Maybe after a new owner comes in...
Making too many changes will blow of whatever audience they still have.
There are really very few options or alternatives for this station.
They need to abandon that "sweet" 55+ AM radio listener demo. This local "general talk" format does not work in 2019 and especially does not work with this particular bunch of awful hosts.

Lennon... hmmm. John Lennon... I'dunno.
Lennon... hmmm. John Lennon... isn't he an anchor on CNN. Oh, that's Don Lemon. I'dunno.
Didn't he appear with his sisters once on some musical variety show back in the 1860s?
The Christmas Lite always does well in the ratings but wondering how it will do in the next month ratings? Also, how will the new format at 93.9 impact MeTvFm? I have noticed that all of the restaurants I dine at have kept the Lite on and have not gone back to playing 87.7 FM.
I am betting the ratings will be back in the crapper for the Lite again until next Christmas time, when they don't play Christmas music they play music from the 80's til now, so some of the voices you hear on their station at Christmas time like Elvis Presley and Bing Crosby won't be heard now, as they both died in 1977. There are only so meany songs from the 1990's that I like and mainly are form Disney movies, even through I do like Elton John Candle in the Wind 97, I don't know do they ever play that version?

You are aware your tastes are not necessarily reflective of the target audience, right?
Given the success of very similar (if not 100% identical) formats in Miami (#1), Tampa (#1), Seattle, San Francisco, San Diego it's quite likely that this station will be much better off than it was before.
It will take whatever under-60 listening that MeTV FM has.
While each market has its own competitive array, it can be noted that WFEZ, EZ 93, in Miami has been in the top couple of stations for a number of years and is currently #1 in 25-54 in that market.
The playlist is centered on the mid 80's, with only 10% being 90's songs. In fact, there are more 2000-2015 songs than 90's songs. About 20% of the songs are from the 70's, as well.
This format is more about "feel" than age, with the playlist spanning about 45 years.
They play "Candle" about once a day.
Me TV FM does seem to havre a great playlist of songs, I heard the pop version of Beauty and the Beast sung by Céline Dion (as Celine Dion) and Peabo Bryson play this morning that finished at about 1 AM this morning, and that played during the end credit credits of the animated version of Beauty and the Beast. But as the ratings for WLIT now, we won't know of how it does for ratings wise for January until mid to late February when the ratings comes out, and Robert Feder will have a report on it. Me TV FM you can get an idea of songs they play as they pretty much have a list of the last 5 songs they play at their home page at http://www.metvfm.com .
