WZAT 102.1 to EMF

https://radioinsight.com/headlines/...swaps-with-entercom-in-new-york-indianapolis/

Looks like the long troubled 102.1 signal’s run under Cumulus in Savannah is finally ending.

Yep, and now sadly we’ll never see the Alternative format return to that frequency again, as long as EMF owns it, since they strictly program Christian music and talk. 🙄

Doesn’t Savannah already have a religious station or two? I couldn’t find any secular programming on an EMF-owned station.

But yeah, typical Cumulus - “uhhh, we couldn’t figure out how to program WZAT so someone else take this off our hands and we’ll trade you to ineptly own and program a different station.” 🙄

EMF is strictly non commercial. They run several different Christian feeds, but they don’t program anything secular.

I fill your pain, Film. Rock 1061 can now continue with their trailer park trash rock music and WIXV can continue playing their 150 song set they have played for the last 15 years without any competition. Was hoping maybe the Statesboro cluster would wake up to the need. Would be nice to get a 100K watt signal around Satatesboro/Pembroke and attempts a locally programmed alternative station. Hell, an alternative/active hybrid would suit me.

99.3 in Bamberg, SC was supposed to have moved to Pembroke, presumably to the WVAN tower, but that never materialized.

As for me, the WZAT (Z102 in their CHR days) is long gone. Alternative, as a format, is dying a swift death as it is (Detroit lost it's Alt this past weekend) and rock is making it's long awaited resurgence. 106.1 could use a freshening up & for God's sake, boot the two afternoon tools. 95 will keep on keeping on. Freebird.
