New 103.1 north of SA

Just heard something on 107.9 that came up with classic rock for a minute, then it went to 103.1 and started rebroadcasting KGNB. It's still on with KGNB, however KHHL is fighting with it so here in San Antonio on 103.1 you'll get Spanish talk on the south side, and classic country on the north side. LOL

Also from the same operator is 92.1 KNBT, which makes it into north SA at least better than 103.1 does.

I wish Alpha(103.1) would work something out like EMF did with Emmis and move 103.1 closer to SA

Won't that interfere with the (new) New Braunfels station?

At least Alpha should do something about 103.1's feed problems. Apparently they can't get good Internet signal out in the country where the tower for 103.1 is, as the sound keeps dropping and fading out and then back in. At least it's not a phone line connection like it was a few years ago.

Won't matter much, if at all. The New Braunfels station is a translator and can’t easily keep a full-power station from encroaching on its territory. Pretty sure the biggest obstacles to moving KHHL closer to San Antonio are KJXK, KBPA, and co-channel KEEP-FM, which was already moved off of 98.3 about 20 years ago to enable KBUC 98.3 to move to 98.5 in Schertz. Plus, it would have to either continue covering Karnes City, or Alpha would have to find another station to replace it there.

What If No Bull Radio Buys 103.1 KHHL They Could Shut Off That Weak 92.1 Then KNBT Can Move Into San Antonio With An Upgrade Signal

If the agreement between EMF and Emmis works out with KBPA moving further north. Wouldn't that possibly open the door to 103.1 moving closer to SA?

Not really. It’s still as close to KJXK and KEEP as it’s always been. It might be able to move further north, but it won’t do much, if any, better in San Antonio proper.

First, it’s not likely to happen. Second, KNBT also can’t move much further south because it’s also blocked by KRTU. Any move of KNBT would have to result in multiple frequency shifts. I'm not sure how you accomplish that now. If anybody really wanted to make KNBT into a San Antonio station, the time to have tried it was in the 1992-96 timeframe when operators were limited to 2 FM's per market.

Not sure if there was much interest in KNBT as a San Antonio move-in, but, from what I understand, the longtime owners of the station weren’t interested in selling. They probably still aren’t.
