WXYK 107.1 The Monkey Gulfport, MS

As of February 27, 2019 - The Monkey (WXYK) is changing frequencies from 107.1 FM to 105.9 FM tomorrow Thursday on February 28, 2019. Because of the new owner (Telesouth) have to get rid off one of the stations from Alpha media since Telesouth now owns 5 coastal radio stations including WOSM 103.1 talk radio that why they are switching frequencies and now I don’t know what they going to do with 107.1 FM signal.

Now the question gets asked.. how will 105.9 The Monkey Fare against 95.3 the gorilla? on 107.1, the last time they were rated they did well, but were still a whole point or more behind 95.3

I'm not impressed with TeleSouth and what they've done in the past... I think The Monkey will edge closer to Gorilla.

Signal doesn't always matter, its about the programming.... but 100kw/1400+ ft on 95.3 does state border to state border and then some, where has 25kw/300+ feet on 105.9 will hurt them. If all thigns were equal, except signal... gorilla would would still win. I think.

Well I really like 95.3 Gorilla better than the monkey anyway because of it’s signal and 15 hours commercial free everyday. And I don’t think it going to hurt Gorilla either.

The bigger question is what is going to happen to the "new" 107.1. It can't be a barker for listeners to tune to the new frequency forever.

It's now WLGF - airing EMF's K-Love format. It fills the coverage gap between Mobile (WLVM) and New Orleans (KNOL).
