Interesting that "Topper" was still being shown at 4:40 am, a 1950s sitcom on KABC-TV in 1998. By 1998 most of the black and white shows were gone. I also see "Perry Mason" (3 am), "I Love Lucy" (11 & 11:30am) and "The Honeymooners" (5 am). But those shows were considered classics. Topper was OK for its time but had pretty much disappeared by the 1970s, even in a large market like LA where four independent stations kept running older shows after they had disappeared in most other markets that had only one or two independents. I grew up in NYC, with three independent stations, where I remember seeing early black and white shows, decades after they had come off the networks. I became a Burns & Allen fan that way.

Topper was also the last black and white show still running on WABC-TV NYC. It ran early Sunday, after the late movies were over but before the Sunday morning shows began. It was WABC-TV's only black and white show. I think it was still running into the early 2000s.

April 10th was Good Friday, the day peace came to Ireland. Surely ABC, CBS and NBC would have shown extra newscasts.

For the Spanish-Language Classic Jesus films from the period of 1991 through 2002, if I were KWHY 22 I would transmit El beso de Judas (1953) and El proceso de Cristo (1965). Galavisión María Magdalena (1945) and Reina de Reinas (1945). Telemundo Jesús de Nazareth (1942) and El mártir del calvario (1952) in Good Friday.
