Talk host Bruce Williams at 86

When I worked for KOB (now KKOB) Albuquerque, in the early 80's, we hosted The Bruce Williams Show from our studios.
Bruce was a complete gentleman and a joy to work with.
RIP, Bruce.

Yes, comparing talk radio then to now and you will see the difference as radio continues its self destructive pattern of circling the drain! Bruce was a friend and what NONE of the accounts of his death say is he did own some stations at one point. Being an astute business man, he saw what was happening to our profession and sold out. Bruce was also very critical of stations accepting advertising from anybody who wants to pay the price and stations should be held responsible for listeners who get ripped off by a station's advertisers. I was listening to a broadcast from 1994 just today when he blasted a NJ station after a caller reported being scammed by an advertiser. Compare this to today! How about the "just pay the shipping" congame for those slimeballs who suddenly found the cure for everything in just one little pill! In those cases, religious stations and alleged "Christian Conservative" chains will gladly air fake interview programs which are nothing more than program length commercials. Bruce was the only guy who called me as I had some fears about upcoming surgery. He was full of common sense advice because he actually knew what he was talking about. Contrast that to today's washed up DJ's who are suddenly experts on the economy, military strategy, foreign relations and countless other subjects. One must ask, if these washed up DJ's know so, so much, why not run for office and straighten everything out? Bruce did and he won! Bruce goes down as one of the last of a dying breed from when radio was actually worth listening to. I know...I'm all wrong, right? All the dark stations and BK operations are just a figment of my imagination. Anybody you ask can tell you their favorite radio station as well as the call signs of several more in the market. Broadcasting is booooming, isn't it? Rest in peace Bruce H. Some of us knew the time was near and we never wanted to accept that. You go down in history as what radio once "WAS" !

The people running for office and winning know no more (likely a lot less) than those washed up DJs. This isn't really just a radio problem.
