FCC Has Questions for Entercom Buffalo

[FONT=Lora, georgia, serif]The name included in the email is Jackie Drost. Entercom said it had no record of Drost seeking airtime. The company also found no record of her running for Congress and contends she was not an eligible candidate.

BTW, what was the name of the whack-job who claimed that she owned WJJL?

Apparently there are issues that go beyond a bogus candidate. Procedures may have been overlooked and station personnel charged with maintaining the Public File may have been negligent. I've read here and at other trade sites that the FCC puts a priority on maintenance and (on-line) publication of the Public File, as well as Emergency Alert System receive and transmit capabilities and records. It may be that Entercom will address these issues more stringently than the FCC.

The national stories on Entercom Buffalo

The wire is blowing up with this political rate story. So, what if the charge is true that they overcharged political candidates? Will the FCC rein down on the Entercom parade, where all the vitriol for anybody other than right wingers resides? It is going to be extremely interesting. Be sure you watch the FCC Investigation part of all their websites because they must respond to these allegations and include the public. I wonder what their political rate card will look at in 2019, a BIG year for politics!!
