KXLY's Woodward signs off, might run for mayor

Watched KXLY Friday night. They seem lost. No strong anchor, same dark set. Same boring graphics. If any station in Spokane was in line for a re-do, it is KXLY. Morgan Murphy has a problem here and they need to act.

And it is official, Woodward is running for mayor. Now can Kxly move on and compete?
 
Morgan Murphy, the same ones that own 'green screen' KVEW. They really did go above and beyond with the Deputy Thompson funeral, but otherwise, bland green screen set. You could use that set for a high school morning announcements show and you wouldn't see any difference. And if KXLY looks bad, well, they are continuing to budget the eastern WA ABC's.

So the point is Morgan Murphy seems to be #3 in both Spokane and Tri/Yak, atleast from a standpoint of how the newscasts look and feel. (I don 't know anything about actual overall revenue).
But while KNDU/KNDO has upgraded and KEPR/KIMA earlier did the same, this leaves Morgan Murphy fighting an uphill battle in both markets. Whether they react or just settle remains to be seen.
 
Again, Morgan Murphy Media does nothing to its stations other than WISC Madison.
 
So to just bring this thread to a conclusion...Nadine won and will become the new mayor of Spokane! Name and face recognition do indeed work in politics, but she was the more conservative of the candidates, and Spokane still leans that political direction.
