Rock929Boston twitter

May be nothing but a twitter account @Rock929Boston was started last month. Not sure if Beasley or if someone's having fun...
Beasley has the WBCN calls parked down in NC (though those who fondly remember WBCN are starting to get up there in age)...
Curious..

Calls mean nothing these days, even heritage calls. The cost of changing calls ( which is still less than a Macho Grande at Starbucks) isn't worth the effort.

Somewhere around here I have a Rock 92.9 hat from the late 70's or early 80's....

Yes though BCN fans may be curious.
Apparently rock929boston.com and rockalternative929boston.com were also registered Mar 25.

Makes sense. The morning show is definitely more compatible with active/classic rock than it is to the Mall-ternative format that’s on there now. Plus, I know they’ve been on an upswing as of lately, but Alt has certainly seen better days in Boston and elsewhere.

I agree with the previous comment, But I wonder if the intent is to return the BCN letters to Boston, why didn't they incorporate them in the URL?

WWBX FM seems to be doing fine.

Other than Adam-12 and Hardy are there any good memories of any WBCN experience the last few years of their existence.

Some of the special commemorative shows during their sign-off week in early August 2009.

Also, really liked the "FreeForm 'BCN" that became "WBCN Free Form Rock" HD subchannel on from 2009-2016, but with the failure of HD radio to be marketed, promoted, and implemented well, very few heard it locally on the radio, and there was no way it could make a profit on just its internet stream.

As an avid fan of WBCN, I agree. I think perhaps there could be an argument for Nik Carter, dependent on his availability. But, I'm on the younger fringe of being a WBCN fan. I remember the 80s version only because my parents listened to it. The BCN of the 90s is what I remember most. I can see them keeping WBOS as the calls and simply going for a direct competitor for WAAF. I think BCN is so long gone that all that resurrecting it would do is get a few day bump for nostalgic purposes.

Once again, there is nothing in either the domain registration or the Twitter handle that leads me to believe a call letter change is about to happen.

All I'm expecting is a change in their positioner: Rock929. They may abandon alt for rock, but that's it. Where is all this BCN talk coming from?

I never implied BCN, others implied it and I gave my rationale as to why I think it would be a wasteful move. Furthermore, what damage is it causing you for other posters to theorize, speculate, or simply discuss what they fantasize to happen? Furthermore, does it make sense to cut into The Sports Hub's demo? Have there not been hoax twitter handles in the past? Perhaps allow others to post and provide evidence instead of jumping on a reply to another post, claiming the reply to be making a claim.

No damage at all...just asking a simple question: Where is this idea coming from?

It seems like a case of jumping to conclusions.

Why on earth would 92.9 flip to Rock or even change its moniker? They are finally showing some good ratings momentum. Adding a lot more variety to the playlist including a decent cohort of currents and recurrents is something that should've been done many months ago.

Just the idea that Beasley currently controls the WBCN call letters and some wonder if they may take advantage of that to put them back here. Yes, nostalgia... (Why does 105.7 have the WROR calls?...) Keeps them away from anybody else getting them, here or somewhere else. A reason for parking them...?
