Paul Ossmann given the ax again

CBS46 has cut ties with chief meteorologist Paul Ossmann after 5 years with the station. Not sure the story but with all the silliness 11 does for news I thought 46 could be number 3 but they are determined to be number 4 in this city.

They've always been a distant 4th. I knew it was a mistake when Ossmann signed up with 46. They survive by paying low and maintaining a high turnover.

I have not watched 46, since it abandoned its Briarcliff location. When was that, 30 years ago...??

CBS46 moved from Clifton & Briarcliff to 14th & Mecaslin back in 2000. So 19 years ago this summer and also the anniversary of their callsign change from WGNX to WGCL.

CORRECTION: 2000 was the year of the callsign change from WGNX to WGCL. The move from Clifton/Briarcliff to 14th/Mecaslin took place the next year in 2001.

Ossmann is a class act (a little folksy and homespun) he may be moving to a competitor or retiring. It could have been his decision too.

If Paul thinks he's the only one who has gotten screwed there, he is not the first and probably not the last. They once fired an engineer for "sexual harassment with a TV camera." He was observed zooming a camera in on ladies in the newsroom. (The ladies all had clothes on.)
When I was there, I saw racial discrimination, sexual discrimination and age discrimination by the company. Meredith was not in the same league as Tribune.
I wonder how many of those ladies would continue to work there if they knew Meredith used to be in the porn business.
It was good to see Lori Wilson (now at 2) and Cynne' Simpson (now at 5) land on their feet.
But most people were glad to get out of there. The company was very unstable.
When they sacked me, it felt like getting out of jail. Paul should look at it that way.
