WPTR-1240 Back On the Air?

On the New York Radio Message Board, someone has mentioned that WPTR-1240 is back on the air, after being silent many months, playing classic hits. Difficult to confirm that from out of town because the station does not appear to be streaming and is not on TuneIn (or similar services). Can folks in the Capital District check on this and report, please?

I also am well out of range plus adjacent channels above and below prevent me from receiving them. However, they probably are back on the air for a short time to keep the license alive. Their STA-silent expires on May 15, one year since they went silent.

Did you mean 1540? Or has there been a frequency change?

1540 is, IIRC, no longer licensed. 1240 took the call letters.

Correct. Radioinsight.com said it was off the air since November 2017 and in October 29018 the owners turned in the license, in part after they filed an STA to operate at different power levels, 10 to 25kw.. and the FCC turned that down, as the license wanted to investigate a permanent downgrade

1540 has not been WPTR since 2004 when the station went dark and ultimately surrendered its license. In 2012, 1240, then WVKZ, adopted the historic WPTR calls.

The WPTR calls did leave 1540 for the second time back around 2004...They had originally been dumped in 1995 when 1540 became a jesus station but were "resurrected" in 2000 when 1540 flipped to nostalgia. 1540 has only been dark since the later part of 2017. As far as 1240-WPTR is concerned....It was apparently on the air for a couple of days just to keep the license from lapsing...It seems to be gone again. But...900-WABY has suddenly reappeared...obviously for the same reason...
