Billy Bush to Host Rebranded 'ExtraExtra'

https://www.broadcastingcable.com/news/billy-bush-to-host-rebranded-extraextra

Billy Bush will be the new host of Warner Bros.’ rebranded news magazine ExtraExtra as the show heads over to Fox owned stations in seven major markets — including New York and Los Angeles — when it starts season 26 on Sept. 9.

“Billy is the consummate journalist with extensive celebrity industry contacts and reach,” said senior executive producer Lisa Gregorisch-Dempsey in a statement. “No one does more illuminating interviews and in-depth stories than him. He’s the perfect host as we reinvent Extra for a new generation. I’m thrilled to welcome him back to television.”

Coming to syndication in September

Good news! I felt Billy got a raw deal in the Access Hollywood fiasco. He's a great talent and deserves a second chance.

Ironic that Mario Lopez is moving from Extra to Access Hollywood.

Access dropped their longtime executive producer as well. Natalie Morales also left the program. Seems like a lot of shakeups over there.

Glad to see Billy Bush get his second chance don't get why they put the second Extra in the title feel that everyone will just say Extra and not say Extra which is good for the intro and going to and from break as well.

In what they’re calling an unprecedented deal, Fox Television Stations and Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution have signed a multi-year deal renewing daily syndicated series Extra, TMZ, TMZ Live and The Real, which will be reformatted to eliminate end breaks to allow for seamless viewing.

In making the announcement, Jack Abernethy, CEO, Fox Television Stations, said: “Seamless transitions between programs are long overdue in local television. We are proud to be partnering with Warner Bros. on such an industry game-changer. These programs are an important part of our lineup and we are happy that they will be back for multiple years with this new formatting.”

Jeffrey Schlesinger, president, Warner Bros. Worldwide Television Distribution, added: “Fox has offered unparalleled promotional and programming support for our series and we are very pleased these long-running franchises will continue to thrive on their stations, and even more so as a result of this new seamless format.”

Extra, now in its 26th season of entertainment news, moved to Fox for the first time this fall from the NBC-owned stations, and with new anchor and managing editor, Billy Bush, along with a new format, has earned the series a three-year renewal taking the series through the 2022-23 season.

Also included in the syndicated deal.
