They're screwing up The Bridge

I like "The Bridge." But lately I'm hearing little interviews with some of the artists interspersed with the songs. These artists are generally brilliant musicians but don't often have much to say when interviewed. It's usually too "inside" and has nothing to do with enjoyment of the music.

I don't think I'm alone in choosing to listen to music on Sirius/XM because I like the lack of interruptions. I can understand listeners to some of the narrow genre channels being interested in what the artists of that niche have to say, but "The Bridge" should be about a good selection of pop songs without interruption. It's a very well programmed channel. I hope they don't ruin it.

They've been trying something similar on The Spectrum. Different strokes I suppose, but I for one listen to these channels for music, not for chatty (tracked) Jocks or lengthy artist interviews.

The other irritating thing that SiriusXM does, and a left-over from traditional radio guidance, are pre-recorded liners. News flash! I already see what station I'm listening to right there on my radio display. I don't need some liner also telling me what station it is every other song! Hello!

My first thought is that many people hardly ever look at their screens, but on the other hand,
it really should not matter to them which channel you listen to,
or even if you NEVER listen to any
(as long as you pay for your subscription).

They seem to have a huge staff of voiceover people and production whiz kids eager to show off their stuff, don't they? All the liners and sweepers and promos for other channels or even other shows on the same channel don't make sense to me, either. As you say, the subscriber pays and that's all that matters, especially with the commercial-free music channels.

So you just want one song after another with nothing else? Seems like that would get boring quickly. As for promoting other channels if they hadn’t I probably would have missed the “Magical History Tour” on the Beatles Channel Memorial Day Weekend.

Stopping-down for an occasional promo or, where one exists, a tracked jock promoting an upcoming song or artist is fine. To me, running a liner very two songs telling you what station you're listening to, is really unnecessary.

It really depends on what they are saying.
Some people like to learn about bands, band members, and where they are banding.
