Ratings for the NBA Finals Game 6 at Oracle Arena

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/l...rong-tv-ratings-thursday-june-13-2019-1218363

Game 6 of the series nearly matches the series-high preliminary ratings for Monday's fifth contest.
The Toronto Raptors' first-ever NBA championship gave ABC strong ratings Thursday night, ending the six-game series with a second straight big showing.

After a soft first four games in the ratings — owing in part to having one of the teams involved outside the United States and therefore not measured by Nielsen — the audience spiked for Game 5 on Monday. Thursday's broadcast nearly matched it, drawing a 13.2 household rating in metered markets (vs. 13.4 for Game 5).

In the final ratings, Game 6 came in at 18.34 million viewers, slightly ahead of Monday's 18.22 million viewers.

Thursday's game will likely come in below the last four times the NBA Finals had a sixth game (2016, 2015, 2013 and 2011), all of which drew better than 20 million viewers.

The NBA Finals averaged 15 million viewers for the series, down about 15 percent year to year — due in part to the Raptors playing in Canada, whose audience isn't measured by Nielsen. The series has been setting ratings records for NBA games in that country. It's also the least-watched Finals since 2009, when the Los Angeles Lakers' 4-1 series win over the Orlando Magic averaged 14.35 million viewers.

California has to be the place where most of the US Audience watching the finals are located but for other places in the USA I am not so sure. I know Canada was mentioned but is not counted by Nielsen.

Would think that the NBA Finals would get fair ratings anywhere in the US. Having a Canadian team may have killed some viewer interest, but it was an intriguing series.

I've tended to favor the teams playing against the Warriors, but only because the Warriors have won so much already. Golden State was the better team, but the injuries got in the way. Would have liked to see a Game 7, even though I was rooting for Toronto.

San Francisco DMA most definitely though given that the local stations have been talking about how the Warriors will defend their legacy when they move to Chase Center in October though.

I don’t think there will ever be another arena quite like oracle arena. A very historic building and I really hope it does not get torn down.

KGO-TV would have to be the big one given that they are the affiliate for the Warriors games when ABC is airing them. But some of the ABC affiliates on the East Coast has to be a factor too given that the Raptors have a following in those areas.

Here is more on the NBA Finals Ratings

NEW YORK (AP) — The two top winter sports crowned their champions as summer neared, separated by exactly 10 million viewers.

The sixth game of the NBA Finals, where the Toronto Raptors dethroned the depleted Golden State Warriors, was seen by 18.76 million viewers in the United States, according to the Nielsen company. The final two games buoyed ABC, which had been suffering in the ratings with the series between a Canadian opponent and a team competing in its fifth consecutive finals.

The seventh game of the NHL Stanley Cup Finals, won by the St. Louis Blues over the Boston Bruins, was seen by 8.76 million viewers, Nielsen said.
