Shows where the announcer was the perfect match for that show

I think of a few- Johnny Olsen and Rod Roddy on "The Price is Right," Mel Brandt on "The Doctors" and Jay Stewart on "Lets Make a Deal." I don't know which other shows had the right announcer that fit a show, but i'd add Ed McMahon on "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson" too. Those 4 are very good examples.

Don Pardo and the original "Jeopardy!"? :)

And the original Price is Right as well.

I think a list of the best game show and soap opera announcers should include Wayne Howell, who did Concentration and Young Doctor Malone. Bill Wolff, who did Another World would be another one. Oh and i forget to mention Alan Berns, who was the voice of Guiding Light for years, and Dan McCullough, who was the voice of As The World Turns.

Going back a ways

Jack Benny and Don Wilson
Burns and Allen and Harry Von Zell
Grouch Marx and George Fenneman

I always liked Johnny Olsen's voice. He seemed to be the announcer on a lot of game shows I watched when I was a kid.

I'd also agree with Johnny Olson for the 70's/early 80's Match Game. Also Gene Wood for Family Feud, and Johnny Gilbert for the Current Version of Jeopardy.

Johnny Gilbert also announced for the "millienium" (2000s) version of "Supermarket Sweep"

Johnny Jacobs also did The Jokers Wild as well. But also, Johnny Gilbert and Roy Rowan did that show too. Later on, Jay Stewart and Charlie O'Donnell did the announcing duties.

Wayne Howell, besides being the announcer on Concentration and Young Doctor Malone, was also the voice of the Miss America Pagent for years and years.

And of course, we can't mention Charlie O without mentioning Jack Clark, who did Wheel of Fortune in between Charlie's stints on the show.
