New 97.9 KQSA San Antonio

Based on radio-locator, KQSA will not reach SA.

KLMO doesn't even reach San Antonio properly and they need translators if they expect to reach the city.

A tanslator ownedd by a commercial station can not be used to increase its existing 60 dbu coverage (54 dbu, I believe, in the case of Class B but there are none of those nearby). So all they can do is fill in areas where they should have a 60 dbu but don't due to hills or obstructions.

They could, of course, lease a San Antonio HD channel and the put translators on that. But it appears that the decent SA translators are all spoken for.

dude you have the answer right in front of you. the 60 dbu falls nearly 45 miles short of the western suburbs of san antonion and the 60 dbu is the local like signal.

The 40 dbu which is like buried in the noise floor, only heard if you have a massive antenna on a tall tower connected to a good radio.. falls nearly 15 miles short of the western suburbs.

Not a chance.

Will this effect the existing station No Hit Radio on 97.9? Or will it be like 96.9 with KXTJ-LP only heard on the NW side of San Antonio and KPPC-LP heard on the NE side?

I live in NW S.A. and have only heard KQSA on rare occasions when there was very strong tropospheric enhancement to the SW. As noted above, the station’s signal does not have enough power to reach S.A. under normal conditions.
