KALIL & CO., INC. is the exclusive broker for this transaction.

Here is the complete List of stations affected by the deal.

Some legendary stations in that bunch, including KPIG in Monterey. KALF up in Redding is also pretty famous.

KPIG is more legend than reality. It is now mostly a 55+ station, ranked about 20th in 25-54. Even for local direct business, clients are going to notice that the results are confined to older people who may not deliver the desired sales.

The good thing of the deal is that there are only 8 AMs in the list.

That's what that format will get you today. They're probably a lot of the same people who listened back in the day.

They charge subscription for their stream, so there may be some dollars there.

That's an average of under $568,000 per station. I know the AMs have far less value per station and coverage, population and revenue potential obviously varies per city, etc. Is this price for these stations really a good deal in 2019? Interesting!

These are to me small markets. The biggest may be Monterey at #85, then Spokane at #95. Then the rest are outside the Top 100. Some like Redding are outside the Top 200.

Agreed. This is one of those interesting situations, Big A. If you attempted to sell each market's stations on an individual basis, based somewhat on population and revenues/multiples, etc., you would still be 'averaging' $3M per market for the seven. You weigh up and down based upon market size/revenue and I don't see many "deals." Then again, look at what happened in Panama City, FL this week. Three FMs (two 50kw and one 100kw) sold for $700,000. They sold a few months ago for $330,000. Not sure either price was or is good for that market after the hurricane or overall over radioed situation for a market in the 200's.

While I can see some potential in Monterey and certainly Spokane, I see this as a very risky venture that better have no debt and plenty of cash flow. Radio is not great real estate, without the real estate these days, is it? I know I am using simple and fuzzy math on this purchase, but can anyone show us the "money?" I don't get it.

Looks like most of the AM stations in the list are pretty much dogs. As an example; KGA and KJRB in Spokane have poor signals. Certainly no where near where they used to be. Then you take some Class D 1kw AM's in Medford? Hopefully the land is worth something, because the signals won't be.

Actually, KGA and KJRB are probably the most valuable of the AM's because they have FM translators. I don’t follow Spokane (and spend far less time following radio than I used to). So, I don’t know how anybody’s actually doing, but there’s probably more hope for the AM's with translators. Not sure if any of the others have any.

KBRE Merced 1660 has a translator also.

I've heard local spots on KJRB Spokane, so they must be making some sort of money. Whether it's enough, there's no way to determine just by listening or looking at their ratings.
