Dan Taylor Exits WCBS-FM

A pretty scandalous end to DT's career, quite a shame.

However, I agree with the other posts that Race Taylor would be an excellent addition to the CBS-FM lineup. A great voice, a great personality, and most importantly a great guy.

Really good choice from Entercom. He belongs at CBS FM a station with the most excited radio line up ever. Now it is a classic Z100 meets PLJ station. I wonder which other former PLJ'er land at CBS FM or other NY Entercom station sometime.

My thoughts?
The allegations are another fake 'me too' type thing.

The claims are being investigated by the state AG. Let them figure our what's fake or not.

In the meantime, hiring Race was a no-brainer, and I'm happy he's got a new gig! I would highly doubt if he wasn't already on Entercom's radar due to his connections with current CBS-FM airstaff... it could be very possible management was looking to replace Dan behind-the-scenes since the original story from the Post was in August.

CBS is bringing that up again, so the rabid dan taylor fans don't get upset that they are bringing in Race Taylor.
or so they hope, anyway.

That's my theory on the whole thing at least.

CBS FM is basically PLJ 2 at this point.

All we need is Al Bandero 70s..

You obviously didnt listen to plj that much in the last 5 years because its nothing like cbs fm. Dont compare them because plj was way different and better in terms of playing current top 40 music and they actually had a good morning show.

This is interesting as www.radioink.com points out that execs at Entercom are saying they are not aware of the AG investigation of Dan Taylor, as reported by The New York Post. Ramp247.com has deleted the article on Dan's exit and replaced it with a minimal mention of Dan's departure and extended announcement of Race's move starting 7/22. It has been reported that Entercom was "poaching" talent in one column. Not sure you can really poach from a station that doesn't exist, even if they contacted Race and started discussions prior to PJL's sign-off. How could the The Post continue to publish articles if there is no truth to the allegations? Certainly a lot of sensationalism going on about the changes of radio talent.

CBS-FM certainly has a lot to gain if this Taylor draws in another full share of listeners. Broadway managed to roll right into his 3P show as if nothing has changed. I did not listen prior to 3P. Did anyone fill-in for Dan Taylor?

So did Dan leave on his own accord when told of the pending change or was he terminated for various accusations?

Isn't the NYPost a SJW type publication, like the NYTimes?

would not surprise me if they posted fake news.

If so, why didn't he sue for defamation? The original charge was made several years ago. Lots of time to sue.

I don't want to turn this into a tabloid style post, but I agree, BigA. There is a lot at stake with a man's name and career. Not sure exactly how I would handle it. Maybe Dan figured he would lay-low and just let people forget. I am surprised he lasted this long, given the accusations. People say all kinds of things, but why would he think his comments would not get back to co-workers and cause issues? He lived in a glass house. Everyone wants that seat at the radio table. Best to come in and do your job and think about what you say and do. Not a way to go out... would Not want this day to ever happen to me. Whew!

It's not about whether the playlists are different; it's about whether an particular jock fits a particular format.

Shannon is a former WPLJ jock who fits WCBS-FM even better today.

Whether WPLJ was abetter than CBS-FM is a moot point because 'PLJ is gone as an AC station and CBS was beating it in all the key demos before it's demise. As to having a "good" morning show the market, as measured in the ratings, did not agree. WPLJ, mornings and all, was a failed radio station that could not even find a commercial radio outfit that wanted to buy them.

There are several different types of harassment. This particular type has to do with verbal harassment against several groups of people protected under various laws. So legal action could have been taken at that time, and it wasn't. Now that he's lost his job, legal action can be taken again. We'll see if it is. But my comment is about the "fake news" comment. Just because someone doesn't like a story doesn't make it fake.

BTW The New York Post is owned by News Corporation, owner of Fox News.
