The flip occurred at noon today....No word on the future of 103.9 and 103.5. 103.9-WQBK-FM has been a Rock station since the summer of 1975. Originally a very deep tracks oriented Progressive Rock station which was typical of that time period. Originally known as The Progressive 104....It became Q-104 in 1977 and used that slogan for the most part until 1995 when it became 103-5/103-9-The Edge after adding the 103.5-WQBJ simulcast in 1994. After the departure of Howard Stern at the end of 2005 it became Q103. As far as formats have gone....It was a deep tracks Progressive AOR station from 1975-1984....at which time it became a very mainstream Classic Rock/Classic Hits hybrid. In 1987 it flipped to full blown Classic Rock which lasted until 1995. As 103-5/103-9-The Edge it was an Active Rock/Alternative Rock station and that format lasted for a decade until the end of 2005 when it became a 1980's heavy Classic Rock station. That lasted for a couple of years until 2008 when it reverted to an Active/Alternative Rock format. It returned to Classic Rock in 2017...
