3TV GMAZ Anchor Lineup Changes

I've noticed that 3TV has done some anchor lineup changes on GMAZ. At first, I thought it was just the normal summer vacation shuffle, but now I'm wondering if they are trying out different pairings/timings. For example, Tess and Javier were on a t 7am this morning, while Scott and Gina anchored at 8am. April was out today, which is becoming more typical.

I wonder if they had to cut people's hours after the dispute with Dish, and the loss of revenue therefrom. Sean and Kris have also turned up as evening anchors on 3 in the last couple of weeks, and they've also been going with solo anchors on occasion.

Losing the revenue from Dish is roughly 1/4 of their carriage fees. I think the split is about 50% from Cox, and 25% each from the satellites. That has to hurt.

As for Sean and Kris popping up on 3TV, I thought that was because they have never hired a replacement for Brandon Lee, who left late last year. Since I'm assuming most of the anchors would be salaried employees, I don't think it's a matter of cutting back hours. However, I could see delaying of hiring a main anchor as a way of temporarily cutting expenses.

Just saw a commercial...GMAZ is expanding one extra hour to 11am! Yetta is featured prominently in the ad. That would explain the changes in the am.

Yeah, I just saw that, too. So what becomes of Your Life AZ? Moves to 11 AM to Noon, getting rid of the horribly unfunny Mom?

Just checked the TV listings for Monday. Yes, Your Life AZ is moving to 11am. I've never watched Mom, but it sounds like an extra hour of GMAZ might not be a bad thing. :)

We will have to see what the GMAZ anchor pairings are, but apparently Javier and Olivia will anchor the 7am hour. At 7am this morning, Tess mentioned that she was in for Javier. I guess we're now on first name basis with the GMAZ anchors. At the top of the 7am hour, it was "I'm Tess. Javier is off today" and then "I'm Olivia". Honestly, it was a bit strange.

I've gotten used to the rotating heads on 3/5. Never even look to see which station I am watching any longer. My only quest is to find which outlet Kimmie Q. is on at that particular time.

She was on CBS 5 Morning News this morning, sitting in for Ian...

I'm interested on how the final lineup will be set up. Not when a person is on vacation. I watch from 4:30AM to almost 6. So I see Javier and Tess. Gina with traffic. Depending on the day of the week, for the first 30 minutes there will be Kim or Kylee doing weather. Then April rolls in at 5. After 6, it seems to mostly be Scott and Olivia anchoring. I've seen Gina fill in as an anchor and reporter.

So where does Yetta fit in? Will Scott and Olivia (and April) come in later? Will April, who seems to have the most vacation hours of anyone I know, leave early? Will Javier, Tess and Gina work all GMAZ? 6.5 hours?

Yes, I am also interested in the permanent anchor pairings. Since you watch early, you will have to let us know the current anchor pairings (if there is any deviation from Tess/Javier or not). I watch from 7 am to a little after 8. Here were today's pairings (not sure if they are permanent):

7am -- Javier and Olivia, weather with April
8am -- Scott and Yetta (BTW, Yetta is still anchoring the CBS 5 Morning News). weather with April
9am -- Javier and Olivia, weather with April
10am -- Scott, Yetta, and Olivia (watching the app at the top of the hour -- all three were there at the anchor desk), weather with April

I wasn't watching before 7am, but it seems that Scott's role is somewhat reduced (it does seem that he is brought in to cover the top story/prominent news story even when others are anchoring). The beginning of the 10am hour is surprisingly news intensive.

As of right now, from 4:30 - 6 AM, it's Javier, Tess, Gina and April/whoever's subbing for April

I actually like the "Scott/Yetta" and "Javier/Olivia" pairings better than the "Scott/Olivia" pairing. I think Scott gives Yetta the calmness that she needs (Yetta can be a bit over the top sometimes) and Javier works well with Olivia. The 10am hour works well with all three of them.

Change 1: Gina actually comes in at 5:00AM now. I wasn't sure because there were a couple of mishaps during the week, including Javier being late on Thursday. Gina didn't do a traffic report at around 4:32 but did file a report at 4:48-ish (there was a major accident). The rest of the week there wasn't a Gina traffic report during the 4:30 half hour. While majority of mornings, there isn't much going on traffic-wise, the anchors aren't even mentioning traffic in Gina's place.

Is any of that really important????
There are those of us who don't care who reads the news as long
as they are competent and not strange looking......

I'm of the same opinion....however....some viewers do have their favs and might like to know who is on where since movement in this occupation is quite frequent.

Just don't touch my Kimmie!!!!!!!

Well, Prescott Joe, I read through a number of posts on here about whether a certain digital subchannel is broadcasting such and such a network or has been off the air for x weeks or some minor company has purchased an LP station that 2 people watch without complaining...

I'd have a hard time saying that anything on this website is really important...it is, however, a nice diversion.

Fortunately, most threads in this forum are clearly titled, so if something isn't of interest, then it's easy to skip the thread altogether. No one has to read anything they don't find interesting.

Now, if you will excuse me, I need to document an LP station that has just been purchased by a minor company so that the 2 people can continue to watch it without complaining...

And I meant NO disrespect to anyone here... I personally am an admitted news junkie and anchor pairings do matter to me, but others may not care at all. And I do tend to read every thread, even if it's not my primary topic of interest.

No disrespect inferred; the smiley was genuine. Diff'rent strokes. I'm like you; I read it all, whether it falls in with my primary interest or not. If I never read topics other than what interests me, I can't ever broaden my horizons and so I never learn.
