New sports talk station launching?

Per this tweet, a betting-focused sports talk station is launching SOMEWHERE in town, with ex-Fanatic host Sean Brace involved. "The BetR Network" recently launched nationally, and with sports betting becoming legal and NJ, DE and PA, it looks like it could be headed to Philly.

Now for a little light CSI analysis-

Any sort of FM launch against the Fanatic or WIP would be DOA. This is likely destined for an AM station or an HD-2 at best. Some of the last work in Philly radio Brace has up online are podcasts from the beginning of the year on iHeart Philly pages. Could this be headed for WDAS-AM? It would make a nice pairing for Beasley and 97.5 if they could put it on 610, but I don't know if any bridges have been burned in the meantime to let that happen.

That was my first thought. Sure, now that PA has sports books, it could fit on some otherwise moribund AM station in the Keystone state. But it’s not going to make a blip regardless.

[Sarcasm mode] What about 1210? They desperately need more sports content.[/Sarcasm mode]

Considering longport owned or still owns 1490- I know I've heard a lot of talk (irony) about a sports betting talk station coming to 1490. I think it it will be happening.

Yeah, I can only see this on an AM or a HD Side. What's up with 1540 WNWR after their purchase? Are they still off the air? 860 WWDB flipping from brokered talk? I can't really think of anyone else clamoring for a new format.

I guess more people might listen to it than listen to that AM station the street signs tell you to tune to for traffic information.

The closest 102.5 to Philly is in Reading, and they play classic hits.

Y102 is back to AC/Hot AC now. "The 80s to Now!" But they did just go HD and put their Spanish station on the HD2. MAYBE tossing this on the HD3?

Otherwise, the only other 102.5 is the small translator for Breakthrough radio that also airs on 1480 and 105.3 HD2. Splitting that up a bit, and tossing this sports station on 102.5 and a different HD2? Could happen. Won't dent 97.5 or 94.1 at all, but could happen.

That 102.5 is also the number of people the signal reaches.

Iheart has announced that "Fox Sports Gambler" is coming out for Philadelphia on August 26th.

iHeartMedia will launch Sports “Fox Sports The Gambler” on 1480 WDAS/102.5 W273DO/105.3 WDAS-HD2 Philadelphia on Monday, August 26.

The new format will replace the Variety Hits/Medical Info “Breakthrough Radio” programming done in partnership with Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia since September 2017. The new format will feature a local afternoon show focusing on sports betting information hosted by PhillyInfluencer.com owner Sean Brace. Brace previously spent seven years at Beasley Media Sports “97.5 The Fanatic” WPEN-FM serving as a producer and host from 2008 through 2015.

Nope. 104.1 will not be included since FOX Sports is already on WNJE. The new 104.1 format is yet to be determined from what I'm reading. They should put smooth jazz back on it, hopping off of WISX HD-2. Give smooth jazz a terrestrial signal at least somewhere on the dial. In the old days, WJJZ always scored pretty good ratings in Trenton.

Don't forget nada as well, Abraham.

P.S Made a post specifically for further conversation about the new 1480 format. Continue it there.
