Alex Jones and Ratings

I should point out first, this has absolutely zero to do with a political bias or trying to “stir the pot” around here. That being said, even though he has gotten much flack for his non-radio escapades, his “flagship” show is still a syndicated (barter...as far as I can tell) radio program.

What I’m wondering is if anybody has a clue what type of ratings Alex Jones gets in the places where his affiliate is in a rated market. He’s in a lot of small towns, but in probably 20-30 rated metro areas.

His InfoWars program is live during either middays out west or early afternoon drive on the east coast. Many do time delay it overnight or early AM...but enough folks run it M-F during important times we can get a decent idea if his show “moves the needle” anywhere. This really hasn’t been discussed anywhere that I can see.

Thanks in advance.

Let's put it this way: He's not on any radio stations that get ratings. Most of his stations are on fringe AMs. His "flagship" station in Austin TX is a low power station.

So if I was to guess, I'd say he reaches more people online than via broadcast.

his affiliate list is severely out of date, ive found quite a few stations on one initial glance that have changed calls or formats 2-3-4-5 years ago

Yes I found that out. I saw a list that had KEIB in LA on it. Then I went to the station site and they were airing something else at that time.

This is good stuff to know. I knew Bubba the Love Sponge has been well known to do the exact same thing. Glad to know he’s not the only one.

Not aware that Bubba is syndicated to OTA radio any more. His lone station, WWBA, flipped to an automated country format in June.

As far as I know, Bubba is only available on his website.

JVC is launching a new talk station on 660 in Orlando and putting Bubba there.

When I bothered to check his website back in April, it showed Melbourne, Tampa, Orlando, Ft Walton Beach, Reno/Tahoe, Charleston, SC. and another one I forgot. I did some more research—all the stations I could see did not feature BTLS at that time besides Tampa. Some had switched formats and the websites weren’t active.

So my guess is if I were to dig through AJ’s affiliate list, I’d find at least half of the 377 affiliates are either duplicates or no longer carry the show.

Funny you should say that because someone did that, and they could only find 42 stations that actually carried it. That was last year. I rechecked the list, and it had KEIB, which has since dropped the show. So it's likely the number is closer to 30.
