What happened to Steve Slaton

One thing that iHeart Seattle seems to do well is secure top-notch personalities. They've brought in great talent over the years, including Marty Reimer, Jodi Brothers, and Bender (just to name a few). Keeping such talent hasn't been quite as easy.

Bender joined 106.1 under CBS Radio ownership, IHM terminated him.

Retention is not difficult, IHM chooses to terminate people to save money.

I worked for iHeart for five years and never got a pay raise. Was a morning news anchor in a midwestern capitol city on a 50kw AM.
By the time I retired, I was calling it noHeartMedia. :)

But they can spend $$$ on that iHeartRadio Music Festival! And they've got 2 or 3 others as well, including a country festival. But long-time personalities? "Here's your pink slip, good luck somewhere else."

iHeart has been quite open about moving its focus from AM and FM to streaming, podcasts, and involvement with music events and promotions.

The talent that is getting renewed is the talent that can provide value in new media.

They are likely making more money with each of those concerts than with some of their medium market clusters.
