NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sep. 21, 2019-- Viacom (NASDAQ: VIAB, VIA) today announced the acquisition of Seinfeld from Sony Pictures Television, in a deal that features the exclusive cable rights for all 180 episodes of the iconic series. Beginning in October 2021, the full library of Seinfeld episodes will air amongst Viacom’s entertainment brands, including Comedy Central, Paramount Network and TV Land. Additionally, catch-up episodes will be available through Viacom brands via authenticated video on demand, websites and apps. The deal was closed by Barbara Zaneri, EVP, Viacom Global Program Acquisitions, and Flory Bramnick, EVP, US Distribution, for an undisclosed sum and a loaf of marble rye after a spirited Festivus feats of strength competition.

a 90's TV classic will air on Viacom Outlets and they are going to be on Comedy Central, Paramount Network and TV Land.

And they will be 37 minutes long. See why I have the DVD boxsets?

Also in the report Nexflix will have the broadcast rights to Seinfeld in 2021

After losing The Office and Friends, Netflix has stepped up to secure the SVOD rights to another classic NBC comedy series. The streamer, which had emerged as the main contender for the Seinfeld library, has struck a deal with distributor Sony Pictures Television to become the global exclusive streaming home for the entire Seinfeld collection beginning in 2021, when the series’ domestic pact with Hulu expires, for five years.

This is the first time Seinfeld will be available on Netflix and the first time that all 180 episodes will be on one service globally and in 4K. Seinfeld made its streaming debut with the Hulu deal. Internationally, it is streaming on Amazon in a number of territories; that will all be consolidated on Netflix under the new deal.

Seinfeld will be a good addition to TV Land in prime time along with Everybody Loves Raymond and King of Queens. Just drop Two and a Half Men and Mom.

You would think by 2021 the ratings wont be that great for seinfeld re runs. I mean I think television will be much further evolved by then with lots of new shows and series for replays.

The show is a timeless classic. It left the air 20 years ago, yet it holds up well today.
There are episodes I have seen thirty times and yet I stull burst out laughing.

You just don't stumble onto a show where everything clicks that well very often.
