who regulates hd power

I noticed the two mermaid lane signals, 106.1 and 97.5 put out more than 1kw hd power, same with rox signals, wip, wrff, wdas and wrnb over 600w, but wmgk and wben using the same bays in rox under 200w. Why so much difference spans in hd power, is the FCC involved.

Youre comparing apples to oranges dude and of course the FCC is involved.. duh, theyre federally licensed radio stations

why apples to orange? your digital output power has almost everything to do with your analogoutput and stations like WDAS and WRNB are twice the analog power of WMGK and WBEN

Sometime back, the FCC raised the digital maximum power from one percent of analog to four. In some cases, you can get a waiver for up to ten. Many stations haven't bothered to put in the increase.

Stations must be cautious. Too much HD sideband power can interfere with the analog reception. The interference is much worse when there is substantial multipath signal distortion.

Daddyoo- The FCC regulates HD power. Everyone is permitted a certain amount that is proportional to their licensed analog power. Some can have more HD power if they comply with interference criteria. Some stations cannot achieve all the HD power they are permitted because of logistical or equipment reasons.
