Is the 92.3 translator on the air from Birmingham now?

I saw that Summit's 92.3 translator (currently licensed for 10 watts from Pelham, if I remember correctly) has a CP to move to Ishkooda Mountain with 95 watts and a directional antenna. A friend was DXing up in northeast MS earlier and logged several Birmingham translators, but also got a "Soul 92.3" ID that neither of us could identify.

It's a bit of a long shot, but I am wondering if Summit launched a new format on that translator to flank WBHK.

Wondering if this one will ever be built out. Originally, the Reynolds tried to add a translator at 92.3 near Birmingham, which would have really been a mess interfering with W222BK in Pelham in some places. The Reynolds app was denied, and Summit Media applied to move W222BK from Pelham to just west of Birmingham (maybe as a way to preclude the Reynolds family from more shenanigans?). The signal coverage area for the W222BK permit is horrible and wouldn't even reach all of the Birmingham metro area. Maybe an urban format could be done on 92.3 to cover Jefferson county or possibly move WAGG from 100.1 to 92.3 and place something new on 100.1 (which doesn't have that great a coverage area, either, but better than that of 92.3). All I know is if BMR gets subjugated to/moved from 107.3 to 92.3, the BMR listeners are gonna be none too happy with that even more limited signal they'll be receiving.

Maybe the "Soul 92.3" station was a pirate in the area?

Yeah, after getting some more info from someone else, and confirming that BMR is still on 92.3 in Pelham, we're definitely thinking there's some pirate up in NW Alabama somewhere doing his own little radio station. Thanks for checking, DT!

No idea what Summit is planning for 92.3 but it's definitely not a great allocation. That may be why they're in no rush to do anything with it.
