New Log 10/14/2019

First newbie in over a week.

740 - KBRT CA, Costa Mesa; overpowering KCBS at 1759 PT 10/14/19 with promo 'K-Brite has an internship program available...' preceded by end of Rel program with address in Colorado. Too bad I never got it when their xmitter was on Catalina Island, but I'll take it either way. NEW #786, 50KW at 933 miles. This one has always eluded me...until now!
Now to look for the 1190 in Anaheim, which has eluded me for just as much time.

It’s a real shame that KBRT is no longer strictly a daytime station with the transmitter on Catalina Island. When I was visiting LA / Orange County, I could always listen to KCBS clearly at night, almost like a local at times. Now with KBRT on the air at night, it interferes with KCBS as far south as Camp Pendleton and as far north as the city of Los Angeles. Even then, KBRT still causes interference throughout the Southland to KCBS. Quiet the change from the days when it was strictly a daytimer!

When KBRT was broadcasting fulltime from Catalina Island, I was attending a minimum of one trade show in Anaheim every year. KBRT came roaring in during daytime. At night when they powered down, it was barely audible in Anaheim under KCBS. One time I was staying in Newport Beach, and things for KBRT at night weren't a whole lot better. In other words, the difference versus KCBS was "mixing" versus "clobbered".
