The Theme for NFL on CBS

I believe it is high time to upgrade the theme of The NFL on CBS!!! It is so old and outdated, come into the 21st century!

IIRC the theme is "21st century"--it was first used in the 2002 season (so it's finishing up its 10th year--I was actually thinking about this earlier today).

This theme linked below was the NFL on CBS theme from 1992-93 and 1998-2001:

Now the SEC on CBS theme--that has been around since 1987-88 (back when CBS carried other conferences other than the SEC--which IIRC seemed like it had a lot of games on ABC at the time). IIRC the CBS NCAA basketball theme may date back as early as 1993.

Any early speculation on whether the current NFL on CBS theme will have an 11th season next year or could there be a new theme looming? (My guess is the earlier).

I don't mind the CBS college basketball theme; I think it fits
the tempo of the game well. I can live with the college football
theme, but the NFL one is a big bore.

In my book, no NFL theme will ever replace the one CBS used in
the '60s. Heck, I'd take "Are You Ready For Some Football?" (ABC),
even though I'm no fan of Hank Williams Jr.

I think you typoed FOX as CBS.

Agreed. FOX Sports needs to update their theme.

Disagree.

I also agree for a FOX Sports to upgrade their theme. They use one theme for all sports.

If Fox wanted a unified sports theme, they should've used, like others on this thread suggest, a brand new song - and kept using their MLB and NASCAR themes until a new song was ready for use. Somebody in Century City or on 6 Av had little patience. Oh to have been a fly on the wall when the decision was made...

And slightly OT (sorry for bumping up this thread) but I liked the old theme on Univision's Republica Deportiva (try YouTube). It sounded so... different. The new theme, unveiled last December(?), sounds so lame.

2001-02 NFL on CBS theme

Pardon me for reviving this dead thread, but I would want to chime in and say that the 2001-02 theme was the best one! (it debuted during CBS's coverage of Super Bowl XXXV), But sadly the full version of the theme had not been found yet.

I agree too. Fox sports theme is boring. I like when NFL and MLB had different themes on Fox. I'll take NFL on CBS or the NCAA on CBS theme any day

Fox needs to update their theme. It's the same theme since 1996. And even before they unified the theme across all sports they all used the same hook.

I think they've had it longer. The Carolina Panthers games have usually been on Fox and when the team was new, that music sounded good because we had an NFL team!

I don't know what happened to the theme song for sports that used to be used on NPR's Sunday "Weekend Edition". They use a different one on Saturday which I don't like as much. Now if one of the TV networks could do the first one.
