They preempted that for this?

I'm guessing other WV stations pre-empted 7-8pm programming for the pregame show (WVNS is on the opposite side of the state as WVU)

In the Charleston/Huntington market, the show aired on CBS affiliate WOWK, pre-empting a newscast and Inside Edition (no make-good).

The Clarksburg/Weston market aired at least part of it on NBC affiliate WBOY. Zap2It suggests that they only aired the first half at 7:00, pre-empting Jeopardy!, but the station website had it listed for the full hour, pre-empting Wheel of Fortune as well, with no make-good for either show.

The Wheeling and Parkersburg markets did not air it on any local stations, but AT&T Sportsnet Pittsburgh aired it at 6:00 PM.

Checking the Wheeling market, I noticed that WTOV aired a local high school football game on its .3 MeTV sub from 7:00-9:30, pre-empting two episodes of M*A*S*H, two episodes of The Andy Griffith Show, and Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.

It's a good thing I get "Jeopardy!" on two stations. It took a while for the meteorologist on one of them to stop talking about the tornado warning. Sometimes I wonder if they're not overdoing the coverage. People subjected to too much of that are going to start ignoring it after a while.

What two stations are those? Did the tornado warning pre-empt the whole show on that one station, and if so, was Wheel affected, too?

Then take up the beef with nature. Seriously. This is the most absurd complaint.

I had a tornado warning recently. Greatly appreciated the coverage to keep viewers informed of how it was unfolding in real time. Gave me the info to know to head for cover as it was headed straight for my town.

I like Jeopardy just fine, but for the love of god, life threatening situations take precedence. How is one subjected to too much warning that there is imminent danger.

And when it’s not my town in the crosshairs, I have zero problem with the same coverage because someone else’s home may be.

If people choose to ignore important information, so be it. That idiocy is on them. And it doesn’t matter a lick that a game show doesn’t air in its entirety.

Not the whole show. WCNC went back to it, as I saw when fast-forwarding. I don't watch "Wheel" but I think the storm had moved out of the area. WFMY was doing a crawl about the areas still being affected by the storms.

Yes it does.

And one station refuses to spend the entire evening on weather bulletins. That way, if they interrupt programming, you KNOW it's bad. I haven't heard that this particular storm was serious at all.

Forgot to mention that in Montana most of the season the national games OTA are pre-empted due to Montana Grizzlies or Montana State Bobcats games

Eastern Montana the games are on SWX which is a subchannel on NBC. HOWEVER...KXGN Glendive (CBS/NBC) does not get SWX on cable so some games are carried on the CBS which pre-empts the SEC game (if the game gets done then they join the SEC game in progress).
The Cats games on 9/21, 9/28, and 10/26 for sure are carried.
The Griz game on 8/31 was carried. titantv shows on 11/2 1:30PM college football (SEC game) then at 3-7 "College Football"

titantv shows on KXGN tomorrow TBA from 1:30-3 then Griz game from 3-7

Tornadoes are serious by definition.

Human life > game shows (and talk shows, sitcoms, et al) every time.

Spokane NBC affiliate KHQ broadcasts all of Gonzaga University's home College Basketball games.

Last night was the first one for this season. Air times vary each game. Last night's game (vs. Lewis-Clark State College) aired from 6-8 PM Pacific, pre-empting a newscast, two episodes of Jeopardy!, and Wheel of Fortune. The two J!'s are delayed to Monday at 11:00 and 11:30 AM, pre-empting two episodes of Hot Bench, followed by Friday's WOF at 12:00 PM, pre-empting one of three airings of Judge Judy (which is a rerun, the other two airings are at 4:00 and 4:30 and are currently new episodes).

This is slightly different than how they handled the J!/WOF pre-emptions last year. Previously, they moved the newer of the two J!'s and WOF to the following weekday at 2:00 and 2:30, replacing TMZ at 2:00 (which has now slid to 2:30; 2:00 is now infomercials) and the older J! run at 2:30 (which has now moved to 6:30 to replace Millionaire's slot IIRC).

College football today on the big 4 has definitely gone back to normal. Games on ABC and Fox all day, an SEC game on CBS and Notre Dame on NBC this afternoon. Nohting out of the ordinary.

NBC overran to about 6:17 Eastern. Affiliates ran either a half hour of local news, or if they scheduled a local, E/I, or syndicated program at 6:00, they ran that in full from 6:20-6:50. NBC Nightly News started at 6:50 and ran for only 10 minutes, so 7:00 programming or newscasts were not affected anywhere.

SEC clock ran out at 6:57, so the CBS postgame show ran to 7:13. WCBS New York cut into ET at 7:16. WBZ Boston cut into Wheel of Fortune while heading into commercial after Round 2. This is only the second time so far this season that 7:00 syndies managed to air at all on CBS affiliates on a Saturday.

KEYC Mankato in the schedule said Family Feud at 6 which was odd. They did show Family Feud JIP'd

Normally they would have news either abbreviated (as would normally have been the case) or a full half hour (if the postgame runs until the bottom of the hour)

Guys, can we PLEASE get back on topic? We do not want this thread to get derailed like the previous Preemption thread.

the topic of preempting the shows for weather fits the theme of this thread as the other thread was for premptions for programming that has nothing to do with news, weather or sports.

also on that topic, not covering a tornado warned storm is a bad idea, KXAS NBC 5 got flack for that almost 2 weeks ago when they opted to do their wall to wall coverage online only except break in during ad breaks during the Dallas Cowboys/Philadelpha Eagles game. they picked the Cowboys over saving lives. it was a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" type of issue they had. they even had to apologized for "dropping the ball" over not warning those in the path of the North Dallas EF3 tornado about it.

It looks like KEYC normally airs the maximum four episodes of Family Feud Weekend (a stretch of up to four sequential episodes from earlier this season) at scattered times on Sundays and early Mondays: Sunday at 1:30 AM and 5:00 PM, and Monday at 1:00 and 1:30 AM.

The first episode got moved up to Saturday at 6:00 PM this weekend since they decided not to do a newscast for some reason, and 1:30 is the start of their "Off Air" period this weekend. 5:00 is pre-empted by NFL tomorrow, and the two Monday slots are pre-empted by "U.S. Farm Report". The second episode which would normally air at 5:00 PM Sunday has been moved to 1:00 AM Monday on KEYC-DT2 (FOX), replacing Modern Family. The third and fourth episodes are not airing at all in the market this weekend.

For Minneapolis, WUCW (CW) airs all four of these episodes consecutively from 6-8 PM Central on Saturdays. WWOR in New York (MyTV) does the same from 8-10 PM Eastern.

ABC and FOX's broadcasts both overran quite a bit.

ABC signed off at 11:39 Eastern. WABC Eyewitness News began at 11:42. KABC Los Angeles pre-empted all of Jeopardy!, and Wheel of Fortune was joined in progress during the commercial break between Rounds 2 and 3. My friend's girlfriend was actually one of the contestants on the episode that reran tonight. They were glad half of it was lost since she didn't do well. KGO San Francisco, against precedent, did not run "After the Game" to 9:30 Pacific like they usually do when the game runs past 8:30. I tuned in at 9:05 and Jeopardy! was on, so ATG probably ran to just 9:00 (or, less likely, it didn't air at all and WOF was JIP'd at 8:42 like on KABC, but the KGO site still has ATG listed).

FOX did not sign off until 11:49. WNYW news began at 11:53.

OK. Thanks. I just got confused for a bit.

WKYT in Lexington, KY is airing a presidential rally tonight from 7-9 Eastern. Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! are bumped to 27.2 CW, replacing Family Feud "A" and "B". The "A" moves up to 6:00, replacing the "C" run (they do not carry the fourth "D" run; "C" and "D" are always repeats), while the "B" moves up even earlier (even though it's one episode after the "A") to 12:00 PM in a Paid Programming slot. The Neighborhood and Bob Hearts Abishola are bumped to 2:07 and 2:37 AM in Paid Programming slots. Election coverage tomorrow also pre-empts the 7-8 hour; same story with Wheel, Jeopardy!, and Feud on Tuesday.

Interestingly, this results in Wheel of Fortune airing on a CW affiliate for three days in a row, as the weekend reruns are temporarily airing on CW Lexington on Sunday evenings at 5:30 due to post-College-Football local news taking the 7:00 slot on CBS (Jeopardy! stays there at 7:30, but I don't know if the news would pre-empt it when the games overrun). That's got to be a rarity since no CW affiliates carry weekday Wheel or the primary weekday run of Jeopardy! on a regular basis (although several CW stations, including WKYT-DT2, carry J!'s weekday rerun feed).

Now that is a serious weather situation, but I have yet to hear about an actual tornado in the situation in my area.

They don’t pull alerts out of thin air. The weather service issues them. One needn’t touch down, let alone in your backyard, to meet the criteria for a warning.

It’s not a game. If a warning is issued it is by definition a serious situation and people who could be in the path need to be warned. Period.
