TV Show Cancellation Thread (including ending ones)

Yes, that's what they call an annuity. Like $50K/year for 20 years or something. Other winners just take the lump sum which cuts I think 35-40% out for taxes...leaving the million dollar winner with $600-650K. If it's a show like 'Beat Shazam' I'm guessing they get two lump-sum checks split up, and tax forms sent to both members. Thus $300K and $300K.
When the insurance company comes in with auditors, does that happen BEFORE it goes to air or after? Because with some of these game shows, contestants have to keep silent for nearly a year before it airs on national TV. I know a 'Shazam' contestant who had to wait over 9 months for her show to air from taping to broadcast. She's a Tri-Cities DJ and they were teamed up for a special episode featuring just radio DJ's last September...they won over $250K.

Spin the Wheel was even longer as I recall. Over 1 year from initial tapings to the Fox airings.

Instinct sucked in the ratings. No wonder.
I am sure ABC will be cancelling Family Food Fight and Reef Break at the end of the summer. The ratings have been abysmal. Grand Hotel...leaning towards cancellation too. Don't know if the constant 0.5's are enough to keep FOX's Spin the Wheel either.

Yep, it was horrible in the ratings. Grand Hotel, ABC's 10PM Mon summer series, got the axe a few weeks ago.

Fox axes the BH90210 revival that aired this summer. Started OK then the ratings fell. (yet we haven't heard anything about the summer game shows - Spin the Wheel or Beat Shazam - kind of odd ain't it?)

Sorry to hear that. I enjoyed it.
That's a shame. It's a fun show and there are jokes we can only hear on "Schooled" now, assuming it stays on.

I think the death of Luke Perry killed the show, before it even started.

As for Beat Shazam, it did fairly well and probably will come back, Spin The Wheel, questionable.

Also Fresh Off the Boat is finished on ABC at the end of this season.

not surprised that FOTB is getting canceled, Constance Wu reacted poorly to the show's renew after "Crazy Rich Asains" ended up being a major hit and breakout role for her. she was ready for FOTB to end to move on to her movie career.

I'm not. She's becoming less of a Tiger Mom and more warm and caring.

Ironically, it brought me back to "Riverdale". Even though that show now has lost one of my favorite characters. I have all the episodes recorded, but not the desire to watch them. And even now, the bad stuff is starting up again.
