A volcano has erupted in Miami Radio....

If you're doing live & local in mid-days or evenings, you're vulnerable.

Entercom has been dropping talent in those slots around the country all year.

Wonder what they will do with stations like CBS-FM. They actually brought Dave Stewart back for overnights. Station has good numbers and revenue is strong. Think the evening personality, Joe Causi, is subject to the cuts? Or other NYC stations or top 5 markets?

They also replaced midday host Dan Taylor with former WPLJ host Race Taylor (no relation). I probably should say the cuts are primarily financial, so if there's a way to meet their budget figure and still staff middays and overnights, they would prefer to do that. They have stations that are rated lower and bring in less money than WCBS, and those are the stations that are most likely to experience on air cuts.

Exactly. We lost our midday jock on our AC station, overnight guy (was the only soul in the building midnight-5am) and our imaging director this month in our medium market cluster this month.

I was saddened to hear of Kimba's departure from AC WLYF although I wasn't totally surprised. AC WFEZ (Easy 93.1) has proven to be formidable competition. Then when you include former WLYF PD Rob Sidney jumping ship to WFEZ and it's no wonder the station has had impacts.

There's been this back and forth of talent between the two stations over the years. But WFEZ's lineup is as solid as it gets. I wouldn't think there's room for Kimba there, at least not right now. She could land in virtually any format and I believe she could do well. I know she worked at iHeart's/Clear Channel's Classic Rock WBGG in the past. But I'm not aware of the circumstances of her departure from there. If she didn't burn any bridges, I can see her doing a classic rock format again in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale.

She's a known quantity and she has management experience as well. I suppose time will tell but the odds are probably on Kimba's side that she will land a gig somewhere in South Florida. It would make sense to me but it's what management ultimately thinks.

Who remembers these two similar lines from many years ago:
"Folgers is bringing a Mountain to Miami" (Folgers mountain-grown coffee)
"A second Ocean is coming to Miami" (WOCN AM and FM)
