WGN Radio shakes up weekend schedule

Philadelphia's WPHT has had a very dependable audience from "Sundays With Sinatra," hosted by Sid Mark. It was once a nationally syndicated show.

Okay it has worked in Philadelphia, but do you think it is going to work here, with how they are moving Dave Plier to more of a morning start instead of one in the middle night, where they will do a replay of his show. BUs it WGN Raido going to duplicate their success, as what is the ages they are during to get 80 and older?

Does anyone in Chicago like Sinatra music? Seems to me he has a song about Chicago.

Cue the YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vE2FmiBHCg

And then there's this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpCoidxg6Ek

You think those songs will work in Chicago?

That is a good question, I can't think of ever hearing too many songs of his being played on the music stations, other when they play like how many versions of Santa Clause is coming to town that he recorded either solo or as a duet. And yes he did record a song about Chicago where he sang it iw my kind of town.

Oh wow... That's uh... quite the interesting programing decision they've made, there. Maybe a test bed for some kind of flip to Standards music 24/7?

They have just managed to increase the 25-54 shares for the first time in years. Standards appeal to 75 to death, and have no place on a commercial radio station in the US.

Bud do you really think they can keep at or get higher, in a few weeks when their new weekend lineup starts

Hey! I like standards and I am well below the 75 age you cite and, I hope, far from the death part. But than again, I don't think this will play well on a Sunday morning. Maybe they should just turn it into Karaoke Radio on the weekend, just stick a microphone in a street level studio and invite people in to sing songs to backing music tracks. Record it, to weed out the wackos from coming in and spouting off about aliens/Republicans good-Democrats bad or Democrats Good-Republicans bad, weasel infestations, etc. and just play away. Probably be like watching a train wreck, you know it's coming and going to be bad but you can't look away.

Assuming you are talking soon to be Frank Sinatra show that will be coming soon to WGN Radio Sunday mornings, I have read that a it is working well on a station in Philadelphia, but doesn't mean that WGN Radio will have the same success. And is the plan that Dave Plier will be spending time talking about him, as will it be let that many of his music will be played.

It's a throwaway daypart anyway. Regardless of what airs in that time slot, little harm will occur.

I see no out-of-town NFL football on the Sunday afternoon schedule. That sure didn't last long!

It seems to me WGN Radio carries a football game(s) when the Chicago Bears don't have scheduled game to play on Sunday afternoons, so that they can have Hamp, O'B and Koz be on the air when they do have a Noon game. As with a NFL football game, it will be 3 hours, but it is always hard to say when a football game will get done, and on time for them to get on the air, where on tv that they can go to bonus coverage of any of whatever games that are still being played. And the Bears are scheduled next week to play host to the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday night football, so I were you I expect 2 more Sundays in a forward's of football games. And I heard Dean Richards I believe the first Sunday that a it happened, that was only going to be 4 Sundays like this, so this should be the last of them.

This schedule commences in a few weeks when they'd be close to not carrying football anyway. I suspect they'll carry the out of market games through the season. Real question is if they'll be back next year.

What in a few weeks, the new schedule starts next weekend for shows that aren't preempted for sports play by play which will be Chicago Blackhawks hockey. Or if Northwestern that their game will be entirely aired on WGN Radio, that provided the Blackhawks are also scheduled to play. And the Chicago Blackhawks are scheduled to play the next 2 Sunday nights, so Rick Pearson won't be able to debut in his new timeslot until 22nd of this month. And Karen Conti and Rick Kogan just have bene bale to have 2 of their full show these last 2 Sunday nights. And Dave Plier is taking off Frida night off already, so is Juastin Kauffmann is taking the rest of show off, as the blackhawks have a 6 PM game, and Brain Noonan is schedule to fill in for both hosts. And then Sunday morning will be the replay of Dave Plier's Sunday night show, and then of course he is hosting the Sinatra show on Sunday mornings, and he always seemed to me that he likes to do only 1 show a week, so say you if he fills in during the week, and a holiday he has taken his regular show off.

And I am seeing that David Hochberg's how doesn't start to January, and I had thought and looked that he still a WLS AM host iwith the sane name of the show that will air on WGN Radio in the same time slot, that John Wiliams currently is heard on, and he will be on Saturday, and at east the next few Saturdays, where the last few weeks I assume he will be ff. And sometime in January is when David Hochberg's show will move from WLS AM to WGN Radio.
