Another translator or two and I'll need to dedicate one whole screen on my car to WECK presets. Still waiting for that "major FM".

And we are still waiting for you to be right about something....anything. Our new translator is our biggest yet
I've never seen such a smallER station get so much attention on here...and it's not just because youre supposedly doing so well. you and others fan the flames here, but its the same few people over and over again discussing the station. Bigger stations with bigger signals and better ratings in Buffalo don't get 1/5th the attention little ole' WECK does
TBolt is really getting annoying to more than just Buddy! What a waste of time his jabs are! Spend your time more productively and stay off of this forum. This space is for people who love radio and the contributions of people who build it up, not for those wishing to plunder it!
WDKX is a full Class A FM. Radio-Locator and FCCinfo.com note it operates with 800 Watts ERP, however the antenna height is 165 meters / 541 feet, well above the 100 meters /328 feet maximum prescribed by the FCC for Class A FM stations. Additionally, the station's transmitter and antenna are in the heart of Rochester, radiating a signal that penetrates the urban core, the first ring suburbs and equally important, car receivers.

The 60 dBu contour can be seen here > (https://www.fcc.gov/media/radio/map...OCHESTER&state=NY&fileno=BMLH-19980401KG&.map)
It's the return of NotBuddy!!!![]()
The FCC sets the various classes of stations with a power and height equivalency with calculated distance to the 54 and 60 dbu curves. Stations may have a maximum power as listed, which can not be exceeded. But if a station chooses to, it can trade power for height. This station has thus kept its class A status, without exceeding the proper calculated coverage area.
And because it's short-spaced to WHTT on 104.1 in Buffalo, WDKX is actually limited to the old 3 kW/100 m class A equivalent, not the new 6 kW/100 m version of class A. In theory, we could put in a directional antenna limiting power in the direction of WHTT to 3 kW equivalent and then increase to 6 kW equivalent in other directions. In practice, it wouldn't make much sense - there are other limitations in just about every other direction (co-channel 103.9A near Syracuse, grandfathered 103.7B in Ithaca, drop-in 103.5A in Sodus, plus Canadian allocations to protect) that make it sensible to stick with what we've already got.
(Did I mention I engineer WDKX now?)
some can dish it; some can take it.
interesting thread.

Keep it professional
We may not see eye to eye on everything but I admire that you choose not to hide beside a screen name. I wish more on this board had the courage. It’s easy to criticize when you hide behind fake names.
